For quiet operation, you should go for a closed case like the Slade, instead of the Velox. GTX 980 cards would be much better for gaming than the Titan Black. A Blu-Ray player would be good for movies (you'll still need to get software like Cyberlink Powerdvd). Otherwise looks good.

Well I think I can make a change about it being quite part, that case is just too ugly for me. I guess i'd rather have a little wow factor to the case. Now I have just been messing around but if I'd rather just go all out and maybe wait to buy another monitor and go with a better computer. Would this build be one that would last for years to come or is it just becoming a lot of over kill at this point. And do all the computers have to be shipped by a 400$ freight charge ?

No you do not have to bay for the freight shipping.

Standard shipping is by ground - FedEx Ground when I got mine, but if you want the extra security for the system you can pay extra.  There is a thread about the shipping methods http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/shipping-options-tidf21346/

FrankW..I have a grand total of 5200 to get a nice rig, mouse, keyboard etc. I have two 27" monitors (1920 X 1080) that i'd like to use. My main goals on having a computer is for top end gaming and media (blu-ray, music etc). I'm looking at this to be able to be my media center for my man cave. I'd also like to be able to hook it up to a projector and some point in time down the road. My fear is that I always had laptop for all my gaming use. They were expensive and after a few years seemed to always bottom out. Now that I no longer need to have the mobility of it I want something were it wont need to be replaced any time soon.

Hi DarkSydeElement,

I think your build looks good for your use. If you are going to save videos or music your might want a 2Gb hard drive. Or you can add another when you need it. Your SSD is too small. The Z97 platform is good for two GPUs but if you think you might want to go to a third GPU in the future, you should consider the X99 platform.

Now lets talk about the Aventum case. It is a great case and you can use a radiator with out effecting the air flow in the case. I want to make sure you know that this case is huge, not just big, but huge. You pay a premium for the case. If the size and cost is not a factor then go with the Aventum.

If I was building a Z97 system I would go with the Velox and save some money. It is a cool looking case and works great with two GPUs. You could also save some money with a H20: Stage 2: Corsair H110 280mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler instead of the Level 1 on the CPU. With the money you save you could get a 250Gb or even a 500Gb SSD.

Frank
