motherboard and SSD compatibility question

   I have a full tower beast built by DS with an MSI Big Bang X 58 (MS-MSI 7066) version 1, with bios version 1.2. Is anyone familiar enough with this motherboard and bios to tell me if I need to upgrade the bios and is it likely to be compatible with the SanDisk Extreme SDSSDX-240G-G25 240GB 2.5" SATA III SSD? It has a Marvel  SATA III controller. Windows 7 Pro. I am dual booting with Windows 8 and unlikely to upgrade while you still have to go into settings to shut the computer down and put all your applications on the desktop.

I have never used an SSD with this PC so any suggestions as to how to prepare while I'm waiting for "eight business day" budget shipping :-) will be appreciated.
