Speakers - great sounding, high quality. 2.1 or 5.1?

I'm considering the Dell Utrasharp U3011 or U2711. Anything I should know about? Can I get the same performance for less?
I am clueless on speakers. I would prefer 2.1 setup. Is wireless any good?

For speakers it depends what you will be using them for I have the logitech z623 and I love them, lots of power but a clear sound easily fills my house with music, I prefer 2.1 over 5.1 takes up less room, but too each their own. For monitors especially if you are just gaming go with the dell u2412m you can pick them up on newegg for 309 so grab 2 or 3, imo the dell 30 ips monitor is too big and is designed for someone doing very high end photo editing etc. So if you want total immersion pick up 2x or 3x dell u2412m, just my 2 cents

I recently purchased Corsair's SP2500 2.1 speaker set.  Wow the clairity of the sound is incredible.  I have these hooked up to the Sound Blaster Recon3D Champion sound card.  Same one you have except with the front mounting control panel. 
 
 
A lot of people here use the U2312HM.  I currently have the U2410 and have had it for over 2yrs.  Once I order my new rig next week I hope to upgrade to the 27" in the fall.  There are various opinions on a multi-monitor setup vs a single monitor.  Me I prefer a single monitor for gaming and I would get the 30" but too expensive for me.  I would look into the pros and cons of each so you can make the right choice for you.

Thank you guys for the help! I'm still on the fence about the monitor, but have decided on a 2.1 setup. I'll take a look at the options you guys mentioned about the monitor.

Wonderful choices.

I like the Razer BlackWidow Keyboard (I saw this for $79 at WALMART!) Might wanna check that. Great keyboard for that price.

Or the Logitech one, I forget the keyboard name, but it's the one with the little screen on it. (Don't have it but have used it and loved it.)

I LOVE the Cyborg MMO7 mouse. Highly customizable with buttons out the wazoo. Great for any game, from FPS (has the sniper button) to MMO's, due to abundance of buttons. Plus changeable DPI up to 6400. Beautiful mouse that accommodates many hand sizes, to boot.

I highly recommend the razer mamba 2012 edition, wired or wireless on the fly dpi switching, macro support pretty much has everything and it is the most comfortable mouse I have ever used and I have had a lot. The thing looks amazing aswell totally customizable led lighting

Edit: I didn't notice the title of this thread. I guess you didn't need a configuration. The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is a system I have used since 2000. Great system for computers. The two speakers come with a black cloth covered screen on the front.

The keyboard Err0xx referred to is the Logitech G19 gaming keyboard.  All the keys are backlight and has 12 programable keys.  You can program each key 3 times for a total of 36 different key combinations.

 
I use the older version G15 it has 6 programable keys with 3 settings each.

There are a lot of good keyboards and mice out there.  It's a matter of finding the ones that best fit your needs.

You also might want to check out:

Max Keyboard Nighthawk-X8 Blue LED Backlit Mechanical Keyboard (Brown Cherry MX) (Macros - Backlit and other extras like turning off the windows key)

I absolutely LOVE mine.

I also recommend the Cyborg R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse.

I own both personally.
