Thank you for your husbands service and to everyone who has served.

My Uncle, who also served in Vietnam was in the Air Force and I thank him very much for serving and I'm proud to have known an awesome Uncle.

If you see a serviceman or woman in uniform any day of the year, do approach and tell them how much you appreciate what they do for us. You will make their day and you will feel great.Strong

I try to do that all the time. Now that I am retired from the Army... I know what it means now to just say "Thank you!" - This was photo taken of me in Iraq, late 2008 I believe

My father served in WWII in the Army. He was part of the second wave at Omaha Beach. He was on the artillery crew for the 155 "Big Toms". He has told me some amazing stories. He is still alive and kicking at 95. Here is his picture.

That is so awesome! My dad is still alive as well! He just turned 94. His big story he tells me, was when he was yelled at by Patton. He had a flat tire along the road in Franch during a convoy. I guess he wasn't moving fast enough for the General lol

Wow cool!!!
My Father had Polio and was crippled so couldn't serve(WWII) BUT he was an artist and the military recruited him for top secret stuff. He helped draw the maps for D-Day etc. Didn't talk about for a long time. Wish I had one of those maps now.

Nice pics ya'll.

My Uncle died in the Philippines in 1941 he was a Sub Captain. It was his first command.

My Uncle was a WWII Submariner too. They think the sub he crewed on went down in the Sea of Japan in 1944. Their is a memorial to all US Submariners lost at sea in Groton CT and a memorial to all US Submariners lost at sea during WWII at Pearl Harbor. My uncle's name is on both and I would guess your Uncle's name is too.

I realize this is late. As a vet, of course I want to say thank you.

But I feel it's my need to point out to you guys that Memorial day isn't for us Vet's. It's not for Active duty either. Veteran's day is the day to acknowledge the sacrifice/etc... of Veteran's both today and in the past.

I can't let us vet's steal the spot light on memorial today. Today is a day to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Those no longer with us. The true American Heroes who gave it their all when the time called.

We are to acknowledge them, and remember them. Memorial day: For those who did more than most of us can even attempt to do for a country.

Veteran's day = the day for us salty sailors... and those other random branches ;)

The real troops are the family members holding down the home waiting for you to come home. I thought my deployments were hard, but I'll never be able to understand the level of just not knowing, sitting at home.

I give military families so much credit. The stuff they endure so that we can do our jobs is unmatched.
