Topic: Looking to order my first DSO gaming rig!! Posted: 07 Dec 2010 at 3:46pm |
Hello to everyone here at DSO!! I have been lurking/reading the forums here for a couple months and I have to say that DS seems to be the best choice by far . So.. it seems the 570 is out and I'm really liking the price point. The 580 just seemed way overpriced and a little overkill for my needs. I've read Ender's guide (Thanks a ton!) which has helped me tremendously.
Budget: ~$2000 for tower. Use: 70% gaming: SC2, CIV5, Diablo3, Battlefield/COD, other FPS and steam games...nothing too hard core. I'm looking for overall high performance, but don't necessarily need max/ultra settings. Other 30% includes web surfing, schoolwork, blu-ray movies, and some light photoshop work. Questions/Concerns: I will be getting a new monitor, is there a big/noticeable performance cost of going for 1920x1200 or should I just go with 1920x1080?? Very minor thing: I like the blue interior lighting, but I believe the 932 comes with a red led on the front fan..anyone know if this looks a little off..?or is it possible for DS to change the front one to blue? If so how much does it cost or should I just shut up and order the stupid computer already lol. So what do you all think? Is the 570 the way to go or should I look at some other options? Thanks to everyone in advance for any comments/help! 466909 Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X58 (Intel X58 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Digital Storm Certified (Dual SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition Recommended) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (40GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: X-25V Edition) (Extreme Performance) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (500GB Western Digital/Seagate/Hitachi/ Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer (Play Blu-Ray and Burn DVDs) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Stage 1: Overclock the processor between 3.3GHz to 3.9GHz (Cooling Upgrade Recommended) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: FREE: Hot-selling game with a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 or above graphics card Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Xtra Large) Warranty: FREE PROMO: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 4 Year Limited Warranty |

I am also curious what the senior posters think of the 570, and if its worth waiting for the new ATI cards due out this month.

build looks great, get it
the front fan will be blue, supposively the lights turn off, so you could just do that, or you could have them replace it
but blue and red can look pretty good together anyway

I think !ender meant to say the front fan isn't blue, by default it is a red LED fan. So if you want it to look like the one they have a picture of you'd need to have them replace the front fan with a blue LED.
