Hello all! I purchased a gaming desktop from Digitalstorm a few years ago and now am looking for a new setup. My only prerequisite right now is a GTX 980 SLI and a budget of about $3000-$3400. Go!!

Here you go!

Config # 1063251.     Cost$ 3139

I can't paste it here right now, but it has all you should need. Whether you want a larger SSD to hold more games and programs is an option within your budget.

You could also get by with a 120mm cpu Vortex cooler mounted to the back wall, but the 240mm rad mounts under the top and will give the case some added airflow. Probably doesn't need it but airflow is always welcome.

Hope this helps and good luck.

To be more specific, I'm definitely looking for a high-end gaming machine more than anything else. Thanks!

I would suggest bumping the SSD in bprat22's build to 240/256GB, if that is in the budget. It seems to be a sweet spot for most people, though 120/128GB should work.

Hi rjazz2,

If you only intend to have sli 980 GPUs you can get the Z97 MB and the 4790 CPU. This will give you the same gaming performance and save you a bunch of money.

Hi rjazz2,

That is a very nice system for two GPUs in sli. If you don't get crazy with high resolution monitors, this is all you need.

That should be doable for all but the most demanding games. I can run Dirt 3 at 3840 x 2160 on a single 970 FTW just fine. Assassin's Creed Unity on the other had needs to be dialed down to 1920 x 1080, but it still look fine.

You're definitely going to be happy you went with the Z97.  I got an Apollo with the X99 and am having all sorts of issues with it.  Digital Storm support has been helping with them every step of the way though.

Edit:  I see they removed the X99 board as an option for the Apollo.  I wonder if my rig has something to do with that.

Check the Technical Support forum, I have a long thread in there "Topic: (Updated) New Apollo System - A Series of Issues" with the issues I have been having with my system.

DroolingIt's here! And IT IS SWEEEET. Thank you all for the help!!

Question (possibly stupid): MSI Afterburner is what's being used to OC my machine. It just notified me that Afterburner has now an update I should download. Once installed, will I need to fiddle around with it or reset anything?

Congrats on your new rig.

I'm thinking the update overwrites or just installs a new program but not 100%.   That's what EVGA PRECISION X that I use has done. At least the older version. Safe way to go is to write down the voltage, clock, etc just in case. Plus DS keeps it on file.

Better yet, if it works don't fix it.    Updates aren't always needed unless you tweak it a lot.

Sooooo, my ASUS bluray player/dvd burner doesn't recognize dvds or blurays. Do I have to buy a separate program to play dvds and blurays?

Yes you will have to buy software to play blu ray movies but i figure it would have played regular dvds.

I don't know what software to recommend but the people that are familiar with that will swing by and mention what they recommend or use.

Yeah the ASUS disc only comes with CYBERLINK Power2GO 8 which burns cd/dvd discs but no programs that plays dvds and blurays. Hmmm..
