Does anyone know how much and faster the 7970m is to the 675m and does the 7970m use more power than the 675m?

from reading around, the 7970 will use more power, but is anywhere between 15-50% better performance wise. Some say wait for the 680m, but supposed leaked info puts the 680 behind the 7970 performance wise to.

The problem with the 675 is it is based on Fermi and not on kelper. I could go buy a 580m and flash the firmware to the 675's firmware and get a cheap 675m. With the 7970 it is based on GCN which is the newest Arch from ATI. |

true. Ive been reading a lot on the two, and most want to jump on getting a 7970, but are worried about drivers. Ive read that drives have not been an issue really, only with dell customers. If the rumors for the 680s are true, then it will be disappointing. There are screens of the benchmarks, and its not really up to par with the 7970, but we shall see.
For me, im getting the 7970. I cant really wait to much longer to see the 680 come out, and for the performance difference right now, the 675 just cant keep up. |

imo benchmarks are good but i prefer looking at actual fps of games so i head here and go down till games and it shows a number of games tested on this gpu with the settings(low-med-hi) and fps you can even click on it to see more info.
GTX 675M here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-675M.70785.0.html HD 7970M here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7970M.72675.0.html i always go to that site for laptop gpu information edit: from what i can see the HD 7970M is the best single laptop gpu everything after it is listed as either SLI/Crossfire or not released yet :) Edited by Black5Lion - 23 May 2012 at 8:27am |
