I cannot sleep with computer noise lol. Ill keep it going till midnight which would make the 12 hours. Even the temps have dropped from the usual 70's. Its staying at a steady 66-69 for the past couple of hours as far as i have seen.
Do i have to manually stop the test or will it stop once 12 hours hits?
Once 12 hours has finished, is there anything else that i need to do or am i completely done. Should i save profile to #2?

yes, save to profile #2, and the basic overclock is done.
You can go for better memory settings, it takes longer, and is a bit tougher to do, and will have smaller gains, but I can help if you want to do it someday. Also you can overclock the GPU, it is easy to, and takes about as long to do as the CPU.
Most people would consider 20 passes of IBT at max mem, plus 12 hours of Prime 95 stable, max would be 50 passes of IBT max mem, and 24 hours of Prime95. Someone from DS might want to jump in to make sure this is up to their standards.

Yeah i think ill just leave it as it is. It seems to be working great.
Other than that i just want to say a super duper thank you for all your help.
you have been awsome. Thank you for being very patient with me as i am very newbie when it comes to this overclocking thing. I have learned quite a bit from this expeirence and perhaps i can someday build my own computer for fun and have a crack at some overclocking myself :).

I have been running the new overclock, the one justin.kerr helped me with for about two weeks or so now. It has been working great. No crashing, no blue screens, no lock ups, nothing.
I have a question about something. it's about Hyperthreading technology. Should i have HT enabled or disabled?
I have read on forums that quite a people disable it. Are there really any disadvantages or advantages of it? They say it's really not needed.

Here is the short answer.
Windows XP HT off
Windows Vista, HT on will net a small gain over HT off but a few apps will still gain slightly with HT off so it is better on, but only by a very slim margin.
Windows 7, HT on, no question, decent to large gains across the board.

I was messing with the Core Voltage a little bit today. just lowering like it like two clicks or so just to see if it can handle a lower vcore.
I Bumped my QPI to 201 @ 4.2Ghz and tried lowering my vcore a tad (normally you would make it higher). About 4 mins into the intel burn test my screen went black.
I'm back with my original 4.16 OC and i lowered the Vcore to see what happens now. Deff getting lower Load temps atm.

you have a pretty low V core, I would not try to lower it.
here is my best 920 D0, so there are not many much better than this one. I don't have a 4.2 Ghz run, but here is the closest one I have to it.

I know every chip is different. ive seen alot of people get with the same DO stepping chip get a very low vcore. They say almost all DO Stepping get 1.24 to like 1.26 vcore. Can other chips really be that much of a difference?
But i think everyone that has that low vcore, i just don't think they are stable at 100% load, like what mine is, it just doesnt make much sense lol. I mean sure mine booted up at that low vcore but as far as putting any load on it, the screen goes black.
I'm happy where mine is at, i just wanted to understand this low vcore thing a bit better.

The V core is in direct relation with speed, so keep that in mind, not really anyone is running 4.2Ghz @1.24 Volts with a 920 D0 with HT. 1.35V-1.45V is the norm for your speed.
To low of V core will cause instability, but also it will result in lower performance, when you push a chip just to the brink of crashing/not crashing it will produce poorer performance than one with a couple more notches of V core, also too much will cause the same issues, and all the other voltages are the same, they must be in concert, to make one big happy orgy of performance. That is why I had you adjust all the other voltages as I did.

Linx is just a different interface for Intel Burn Test, both use the Intel algorithms, Linx is usually easier to use is all.

Hey Guys, Just reporting an update.
It's been about 5 months that i have had my computer. The PC runs great. I have only had one crash. The only thing that has changed are my temps. My Idle during winter would sit at 37-40C, now that it is Summer My Idle sits 44-49C.
Just wanted to know if this much of a gain was normal, I do live in florida. The house stays below 80 Degrees But my room seems to be the hottest which sits at 80+ degrees.
If i run intel burn test @ Max my temp gets to 90c

We'll it's no longer the winter then, so your ambient temperature is going to go up.
However, those are still good temps for such a high overclcok 4.0GHz+ on a single 120mm radiator.
Also, what really matters is your CPU temps during gaming and other computer tasks that you do. Intel CPU Burn or any other stress-testing application will put your CPU under load levels that are not normal usage conditions.
