See: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/prepping-to-take-the-plunge-tidf22152/ for the original thread.
Figured I'd get a new one lined up since that is sort of out-dated in light of new hardware releases. Found someone to make my design for the laser etching, and I think I'll be ordering this sometime tomorrow pending any feedback from the trusted DS community. Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation - you guys were a huge help in picking the right components. Will be placing an order later tonight when I get home from work, I think.

Order confirmed - I haven't been this excited in... I can't remember when! Now the super fun (read: excruciating) waiting period!
Edit: By the way - no tax? That was an unbelievably pleasant surprise. Is that for real? Edited by Eggy - 26 Sep 2014 at 3:43pm |

DS adds sales tax only if you live in California.
Congrats on the order. |

So as the date of arrival gets closer, I've been doing some reading up on some of the components in this beast. One point in particular about the 980's caught my eye this morning, which I didn't realize before:
3 display ports per card!! Looks like this means you don't need 3 cards in order to use a set of three RoG Swifts as you did with the 780 Ti. It also means you should be able to use the g-sync functionality across all three monitors! Not sure I'll get there anytime soon (at an extra $800/monitor, that's a whole separate investment), but food for thought. The anticipation has officially built to the point where getting my hands on this baby is all I can think of! Hit stage 5 last Tuesday evening, so I'm thinking (read: hoping) that it can ship by the end of this week. I was kind of wanting to wait until I unboxed it but... hey Nav - any chance you might be able to sneak a picture, either before or after the laser cutting? Curiosity is killing me here!

No pics yet, BUT, my rig did make it to Stage 6 yesterday afternoon, and the DS team seems pretty confident that it will be shipping out with freight at the end of this week!
So, for any of you folks who have had freight delivery, a question. I've never used freight shipping, and according to Janna @ DS, the delivery company (most likely UPS) will contact me upon receipt of the machine to schedule a delivery appointment. Do they tend to be pretty happy to work with you on delivery times, or how does this process typically go? I'm mostly concerned that I'll wind up taking a full day off of work, only to have it be the last delivery of the day.

Right .. Freight only ships on Fridays (PCKiller will attest to that) and when your delivery is made is usually dependent upon too many factors... how far you are from the terminal, how many other deliveries stand between you and them, how it's loaded, where it's loaded in the truck, etc etc.
Most freight companies will try to give you a notice of delivery, as it's your residence. But again, anything can happen, and it usually does. You may be the first stop on the day you're not available to receive it and the last stop on the day that you ARE able to receive it. Good luck and keep us informed. |

Confirmed, Snaike, freight will ship on Friday - made it to Stage 7 last night! If all goes (went) well with the laser etching, it should be leaving DS at the end of the week and starting the long trip to lil' Rhody.
Neat tidbit that I didn't realize came in the Stage 7 email as well - looks like they were able to get me to a 4.5 GHz overclock on the CPU. Sounds like a decent OC to me, I hear that's give or take the average for this processor.

Nice to hear it'll ship soon and the oc is very nice indeed.

No kidding? I work in Providence typically but live down near SK/Gansett. From Connecticut originally, but came here for school and fell in love with the state. Hard to beat living this close to the beach

Just an update: Shipped and scheduled to arrive next Monday, the 3rd!
Downside: I leave on Sunday morning for a week for business Luckily a friend will be there to sign for it, but it pains me that I won't be able to boot it up for a while after it arrives! At least it gives me something fun to return home to. Yet another question - the monitor will be arriving separately. Should I have received a separate tracking number for the monitor (I did not)? The email mentions it may arrive 1-3 days before or after the rig, but I'd hate for the monitor to get sent back because nobody is around. I'm assuming it also requires a signature?
