I am curious but is it normal for one core to be a little bit higher than the other cores?

Hi Arkansas... it's normal from all I've seen and read. Thing is, the readings really are + or - 5 degrees anyways, just the design and the cores aren't equally taxed. If you watched it long enough you might see the temps stagger. Mine do.
You're good to go in my book. |

I wouldn't worry about it. The temps are great, and that's all that matters.
Has it changed since you first started checking? If so, it could be the chips thermal material altering a tad. But, that's nothing you can deal with anyways. Temps are great means all is good. |

I've never honestly really noticed but then again i never use RealTemp that much anymore i use Speccy and it pretty much stays in the low 30s. But if the temps are great then thats fine. |

So dusting out my computer i noticed the cpu cooler the noctua d14 seems a tad bit loose but not loose for it to come off. Yesterday i had taken it to the local computer place because the internet card went bad and i noticed the two tan fans were a little different so i assume they probably removed the fans or whatever to get to the internet card.
Perhaps i am worrying a bit too much and maybe paranoid but do you think by them doing that, could cause a temp difference in that core? I suppose i should only worry if the temp goes above 80, so I guess i will relax and not stress about it as stressing about something doesn't work very well. Also I hardly ever use realtemp as it is, i use Speccy and have been since the beginning of June and these are also its temps. Here are my temps after doing a good dusting with RealTemp Edited by ArkansasWoman777 - 29 Jul 2014 at 9:03pm |

I just want to know how your computer knows that you have four different TJMaxx stores within 75 miles in any direction?
Shop there with your computer often?

I would pull the center fan and make sure the two Phillips head screws that mount Noctua to the cpu are snug. Then check the fans for proper alignment and the clips are on.
Check the temps under stress. That's where it really counts. I guess it's possible a loose mount or poor thermal paste could have an effect, but I would think you would have it across all cores, but can't say for sure. Let us know. Edited by bprat22 - 30 Jul 2014 at 2:44am |

You will always have one core that is several degree's hotter than all the rest. Been that way since the original Core 2 Duo's came out.
There is nothing wrong. Nothing is going bad. If all of your cores were reading roughly the same temps, there might be a flag there, but yes... don't worry. Don't change anything, tighten anything, reapply any thermal paste to anything... Completely and 100% normal and right. Edited by Meller - 30 Jul 2014 at 4:22am |

If you suspect the Noctua is loose or more wobble after coming back from the repair shop, I'd at least check the mount. Can't hurt.

If the heatsink is loose, I would reapply the thermal interface material (TIM) as well as tightening it down. You will need isopropyl alcohol to clean off the old TIM and a lint free cloth (old t-shirt). There are plenty of youtube videos showing how to apply it.

Been watching twitch.tv and my temps look fine to me, i guess because i was only looking at one core like in the picture of the Speccy and not all 4 of them i guess i was a bit worried.
I'll try out playing some games in a bit and see how that goes. As far as the CPU cooler goes i'm just going to leave it alone and not mess with it because i don't want to do something that will damage it or whatever and as long as my temps are good then i'm not going to worry. |
