I've read complaints where system were brought broken on arrival. It may not even be DigitalStorm's fault. It could be possibly usps and etc. My question is how well are these computers packaged? Can the computer arrive at your doorstep without an issue from traveling from Ca to NY?
As of right now I don't know if my computer will make it through the journey. I just don't want to experience what others have gone through. It would also be appreciated if others could share their experience. |

There are cases where the shipper did a job on the package, but it is only a small percentage. The box is Huge, you'll see , and well protected, but if a guy decides to drop kick it off the truck, the internals do take a jolt. DS fixes any shipping damage, all on them.
Mine ground shipped, an ODE 600t system, across country to Connecticut without a scratch. 3 years later, still running great. Chances are definitely on your side. |

I believe the first 30 days is free. Might be 45, I'd have to double check tomorrow. After that, yes, you pay to ship it. If a part goes bad, under warranty, the part is free but you pay shipping both ways, after the 30 days.

I recently relocated to the East Coast, based on my prior shipping experiences with them, I trust DS will get me my next Digital Storm baby here just fine.
Of course the other half has vehemently disallowed any such purchases until my Bolt ceases to function at a level above paperweight. |

Mine arrived in NY about a week after it was shipped out from DS. It was obviously handled with care and I have had no problems. The box is MASSIVE. I will admit that I expected a bit more with packaging, but obviously DS did a good job (I'm no pro packager here myself) because there wasn't a dent or scratch anywhere and nothing was loose inside. And I'm pretty far into NY, near the capital.

Looks like someone is going to be out of the computer market for a good long time. If you knew that was to be the case, maybe you shouldn't have purchased such a strong rig for her.
Back to the topic at hand. The shipping of the computers, even across these United States, should statistically procede flawlessly. From my experiences within the shipping industry for these many years I can tell you that things will get damaged, lost, stolen and even destroyed. However, these are the exceptions and not the norm. A full 90% of cross-country shipments arrive with no further actions needed.. (ie follow-ups for damage, loss waivers, re-routes for incorrect deliveries, etc etc etc)
So, to answer your question; No, it's not a bad idea to ship to the East Coast. Things happen sometimes, but the odds are that you'll receive your shipment with a minimum amount of wear and damage.
(Full Disclosure: I actually picked up / Will Called my own machine. That has more to do with living less than an hour from Digital Storm than it does to the fact that I didn't want it shipped.) Edited by Snaike - 17 Oct 2014 at 2:12am |

I received my laptop while my ship was at sea in the philippines, and it arrived in 2 1/2 weeks. The package was insured, it had small surface scratches, and a minor dent (1 in) on the outer box, but the system was in perfect condition otherwise.

Hey, small world! I used to live right around Inman Square, technically Cambridge, but close enough for horseshoes and hand-grenades. |

We ship packages internationally with the packaging materials that we use for our domestic shipments and we have no issues. You have nothing to worry about.
To be honest, if there was even an issue, we would have found a solution already as no business would want a high percentage of customers to get their system and have it arrive damaged, it would be a major headache for us to deal with. Our packaging is designed in such a manner that even if the shipping company isn't nice with the package, your computer should still be perfectly fine. |
