I'm just wondering what browser is better? Chrome, Opera, Firefox? I'm currently using Chrome but thinking of switching.

Been playing around with opera and i seem to like it. It loads a lot quicker than chrome does. I may keep chrome as my second browser just in case.

I use Opera, AE-9 and Firefox. For forum work I use mostly Opera. I find the Speed Dial very handy for selection different features on the DS forum. I run a major Fly Fishing forum and I would hate to do it with out Opera. All is not perfect though. There are still certain pages that Opera fails on but the other features makes it better to navigate. I Keep Fire Fox loaded with the various DS computers on Tabs so I can bring them up for a configuration. I have things to remember on the Opera Notes feature. So certain information is very handy to bring up. It also has a links menu bar where I keep other links to things I use for the DS Forum. You just can't beat Opera for navigation.
I have loaded Chrome several times hoping it would be better but always end up deleting it. It is a resource hog and I think it is poor for keeping track of information I need. Frank |

I use Chrome. Fast, essentially bare interface with only what you need. Intuitive options and fairly robust stability.
You'll have to let me know how that 'Chorme' browser works for ya, Alex. I'd heard of it but haven't really heard any reports about its performance...:P |

I have been happy using the combination of chrome and opera. I like how chrome has good integration with all the google apps i use (rss readers gmail doc etc) and I love the speed and interface on opera. I used to use firefox when I was doing xslt coding in my old job as some the extensions were really helpful. One of my favorite ones was one that renamed it every new window to random weather/space thing and random animal e.g. moondog or lightinggoat made for quite good fun.
I have seen chrome be a ram hog sometimes but my shiny new DS computer has 16GB so i don't care hahaha, on my girlfriend's old pos laptop I have her use opera as it only has 512MB of ram, disturbing I know, but she doesn't see the need to upgrade as she got a ipad... I am a die hard Chrome fan. I have Chrome, Chromium, and Chrome Canary on my xm15. You were somewhat right with unchecking that box, but if you want, you can uncheck the first two boxes and the last two boxes under privacy, and it will run a lot faster.

Chromium is a less used version of chrome that is very similar, but without the branding, and it conceals you a bit more on the web. It is very common to Linux users who want to use a browser other than Firefox or Opera, because it is easy to install on Ubuntu or Mint. It still isn't used much on Windows.
Chrome Canary is the developer version, which is generally somewhat buggy. Developments on new versions of Chrome go through "beta testing" on Canary first, and any bugs are removed. |
