I'm planning on Overclocking my i5 2500k from stock 3.30ghz to 4.50ghz. I am already familiar on how to do this and I know which BIOS settings to change. My motherboard is the ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3. What I am wondering is will I get a significant performance increase with the speed increase and roughly how much? Secondly, Will this reduce a bottleneck of crossfire 6950s if there is one. (Honestly, I don't know that for sure.) My heatsink is the Corsair A70 which is completely fine cooling the cpu at that speed.

Oc'ing the cpu will give you a boost, but how much percentage wise, I couldn't say. I really don't think the 2500k is bottlenecking you cards.
Keep in mind, if you overclock the chip yourself and you're still under DS warranty, it could affect the warranty. Edited by bprat22 - 28 Apr 2012 at 5:43am |
