I'd go for the CM 942 HAF X Case or the Dreadnought. Also the P8Z77 Deluxe has a built in WiFi card and drop the 680 to a 670 as they are very close to each other in terms of power. Also you don't need the frostchill. The Vortex with a 240mm rad will be good enough, also you don't the Temperature display. Also, why a 2tb drive :/

Ok so I don't need the wifi card. I was going to use the SSD as my boot drive and then the 2tb drive for storage. Do you think the 670 can handle even the most intense games I throw at it at ultra settings?

Hi beleflek75......That is a great build Astrotechnics showed you. He's got this covered.
What size monitor and resolution will you be playing at? Chances are the single gtx670 or the 680, which is about the same, will not play the most intense games on ultra settings. For that you'd need a sli, 2x gtx 670 setup. With the config above you can easily add another if budget allows. |

My monitor is 24" at 1920x1200 resolution.
Probably the most intensive game I have is Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I really want to be able to play this on ultra settings. I never considered having 2 graphics cards and I really don't want to due to budget concerns. Is 800 watts enough if I want to add a second graphics card in the future? Also, if I did have 2 graphics card do they have to be identical? Thanks for the help |

FSX from what other forums members have said is a verry demanding game. For smooth gameplay on Ultra settings you will need sli, 2x gtx 670. The 800w psu will handle it but doesn' t leave alot of headroom for future needs or when a psu degrades a bit over time. We always recommend the 1050hx if bhdget allows. For sli you do need identical cards. You could always try one card and add another later if needed. It is a simple task.

Here is a review of the GTX 670 in SLI. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_670_SLI/1.html In the gaming section the Blue highlight is a single GTX670 and the Green highlight is 2 GTX 670s in SLI. Obviously you will want to look at the charts for your 1920 x 1200 resolution. This reveiw covers lots of games but not FSX, but should give you a good idea of what to expect from a single GTX 670 vs 2 GTX 670s in sli. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Excellent. Thanks for the great responses. I guess I'll go with a 1020 power supply with future plans on getting another geforce 670 for an sli configuration. Would that be easy for me to install myself? This is my new build...please comment.
Also as far as cases go, I read that aluminum is good for temperature conduction. Hi belaflek73,
that is a good build but here are some thoughts. 1. You have the wrong CPU cooler your want the Stage-2 240mm rads, not the 120mm rad. You are going with stage-2 OC and I would want the 240 rad. The case you have chosen does not have great air flow with the standard fans. 2. From the stand point of performance you have picked a poor case with standard fans. The HAF-X has much better air flow and is quieter. If you add the additional fans you need to make the 550D case work with air cooled GPUs, it will be noisy. The standard case doesn't have a side fan that blows directly on the GPUs. I think OCing the GPUs is a mistake for most people but with no side fan you definitely shouldn't do it. My recommendation is to go with the HAF-X or at least add one or two 120mm fans to the side of the 550D. They will be noisy but will help cool the GPUs. Just to be clear, I wouldn't OC the GPUs. 3. Don't boost the OS. They disable Win-7 features they think you don't need. I prefer to make those decisions my self. Get your computer working and try all the features of Win-7 and then you can disable what you don't want. If they do it you might not be able to find something you want to use. Yep, everything Frank said ...and just to add....If you stick with the Hafx case you could go with an air cooler, the Noctua d14 for tops in dependability. The Vortex 240 works very good but the d14 leaves little to go wrong.
If you stick with the 550D then the 240mm Vortex as Frank and Astrotechnics suggested would be great. DS would mount it to the top and its two fans will help where the case has no fans for cooling.

Is the HAF-X case the Black Ops Hailstorm Edition case?
I won't OC the GPU and assuming I go with the HAF-X case with future plans of having 2 geforce 670's in sli config.....should I go with the Noctua d14 or the Vortex 240mm? |

The HafX case is under Special Ops, Dreadnought. Astrotechnics config #701617
will take you there or just start from scratch in Special Ops, Dreadnought, level 2, I believe. You don't need any chassis/fan upgrades. The HafX is great as-is and it's large, slow moving fans are relatively quiet. If you compare the specs on the HafX, like front 230mm fan and side and top 200mm fans you see why we always recommend it first. That side fan will blow fresh air directly onto the graphic cards. The Noctua D14 is tops in reliability because its a big block of metal fins, but the 240mm Vortex is also very good, just has a more that can go wrong. Its track record is decent so you probably wouldn't have a problem. I go for dependability whenever there's a choice. Just me.  Edited by bprat22 - 24 Jun 2012 at 12:03pm |

The HAF-X case has big, slow moving fans and the noise is not bad at all. The most noise will be while gaming and you won't notice it under fire.
