It's on my Syndicate. Have the dreaded oxcoooooof. Boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
My SSD is a Intel 510 and 250g. Lost this back in 2013 with the same issue. It was still under warranty then from the 2012 build on my Cube. Its not under warranty now. After that happened last time I bought a 3TB external HDD from WD. Ok so my OS is backed up BUT how the heck do I get to it? IF my SSD is fried. Also I now need a new SSD right? Fine. Can I place a new SSD there that's bigger? In the same spot as the 510 is now? Like say a Eluktro Pro Performance 1TB SSD SATA III (6 GB/s) MLC 2.5-Inch 7mm Internal Solid State Drive TRO-SSD7-1TB-PRO Or a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM) Or does it have to be another Intel? Hi oldlady RPGer,
They are all 2.5 drives and you should be able to remove the Intel and plug in any new 2.5 SSD. Frank |

You might to double check the boot priority in BIOS or try booting with the windows CD and 'repair start up'. (this can take hours to complete - I had one that took 1 1/2 days.)
Hate it when a drive goes bad. |

Hi peeps. Thanks for the info.
Just got home from work. Ordered a 850 Pro 1tb. Supposed to be delivered today. I won't have a chance to work on anything until Wed. night. I don't have a CD to boot from. I did check the BIOS and nothing. Think the drive is toast. Will it be hard to transfer my OS from my external backup HDD to my new SSD? Have never done that before. |

I've never done it either without the Windows disc, so....
I believe you will have to download a copy of the OS from MS. Use that spanking new Behemoth. It's an iso file, meaning you burn it to CD or to a flash drive and its bootable. You'll need your MS product key probably on a sticker on the outside of your rig. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery If your copy of the OS on your HDD was a clone on a separate partition and not just a copy, you might be able to boot from the HDD. Otherwise, Plan A above. Good Luck. |

To install Windows without an ISO file you can download Windows 8.1 here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media ISO files generally need file archiver or disc imaging software to open and use them. Edited by Pacesetter - 07 Apr 2015 at 12:20pm |

HI oldlady RPGer,
Sorry to hear of your trouble. I have a disk from DS that came with the computer. DS calls it the Custom Image Disc that can be used to restore your system. It might work if you have one. The disk was included in the Personalized User Manual. You should have gotten one with your Syndicate. Frank |

Now what do I do? I fixed the problem and got my old Intel 510 SSD working and my OS.
I'm looking at this beautiful 850 Pro Samsung 1TB and wondering what should I do? Send it back? Install it? My old Intel 510 is about out of space and it is a little slower. I do have everything backed up on my external HDD. |

Unless you're looking to recoup the money, I would also install it, clone the 510 to the 850 with Samsung's cloning software, remove the 510, boot with the 850 and put the 510 away as a backup with OS ready to go, just in case.
What did you do to fix the 510? Have fun. Edited by bprat22 - 09 Apr 2015 at 6:23am |

Those Intel 510s always were a finicky bunch.
Glad to see your back up and running. |
