Has anyone had to add liquid to the reservoir? I am about to tackle this and am wondering if I have to remove the top radiators to get to the fill hole and do you remove the black cap or just the chrome plug? There is a total lack of guidance in the manual or in the tech questions section. In my account section all I get is the delivery date and a build list. I figure I would try here first and then e-mail Alex since this is really an easy problem to solve, at least I hope it is. Thank you for any help or experience on the system.

Hi hoserator.... You shouldn't have to remove the top rad. Remove the fill plug and get a funnel. If it's a tight fit, a flexible funnel will do it. Put a cloth underneath to catch any drops when pulling out the funnel.
There are also syringes and squeeze bottles that you can use. FrozenCPU.com has examples to check out. Edited by bprat22 - 30 Jan 2015 at 4:18am |

I haven't found the reservoir in my Slade yet. Roughly how often should I check and top off?

What cooler do you have? My guess is one of the sealed liquid cooler, like Vortex 120? If so, then no maintenance and no reservoir to deal with.

Hi bpratt22, Thank you. Basically there is no special tool. If I understand correctly, just take the plug out and carefully put liquid in any way we can. In my system the reservoir is attached to the mobo mounting plate and therefore pretty much inside and hard to get. Only a couple of inches on top of the reservoir before you hit the rad. Do you know if the system is under pressure and do you also know if we can purchase hose and fittings from DS. I could rig an external fill hole with some fittings and hose. I guess this last should be directed at Alex. |

Hi txbrumley, I was told that the reservoir should be topped off when it is approximately 1/4 down or temps start to rise. If your system is sealed you don't have to worry. |

You got it with the plug.
The system isn't under pressure. The pressure of the water of course but not a sealed, blow-up in your face type setup. Once the system id off, then no worries,. DS will sell you the hoses and the fitting to screw in where the fill plug screws out of. A lot of people have a external fill port for just that reason. For more simple, you can get a squeeze bottle you pour the liquid in, a long hose goes from it to the port and just squeeze away. But, the external keeps you out of the insides. There are also small funnels with long flexible snouts on them to get into tight areas. |

Hi bpratt22,
Love it. You know, people should post their solutions. I bet they are many and imaginative. If I figure how to post pictures, I suffer from chronic LTK (Lack of Technical Knowledge), I will, of course. Thank you for your help. Can't wait to get some parts in my hand and start ....... I like the squeeze bottle with long tubing solution as a quick one for now. Thanks again. |

Hi, here's a picture of your system and the red arrow is pointing to where you can add fluid, there is a removable cap there.

Yep, Vortex 120, zero maintenance according to the web site but the manual included a note about cooler maintenance so I was feeling confused. |

Hi,
To finish the thread, I was able to refill the reservoir. You need a 6mm allen wrench to remove the cap. I used 1/4" tubing and syringe. It took 70ml to fill up. All in all a pretty simple operation. I have ordered fittings to see if I get brave enough to set up a permanent fill hole. Thank you for the assistance bpratt. System still working. I don't let it go to sleep and shut it off every night. |
