My temps on idle are 49-55 and on heavy load mid 70s. Once a week sounds too excessive. I was thinking of checking once a month.

What do you mean by flush once a year? Don't know much about watercooling. I was just thinking of refilling reservoir whenever I see it getting low.

Well, any system that utilised water for cooling has the potential for algae growth as well as corrosion effects upon metals. If your system uses mineral oil instead, both these primary problems are avoided. I dunno what other issues you may have to deal with... biological buildup and corrosion are prolly the main things to consider. Even with the use of algaecides (sp) and antifreeze, these additives eventually break down. That's prolly another reason for a system flush.

Got this from site which uses same coolant.

"Fluid XP has a 5+ year shelf life but because of the fact that almost all of the tubing used in water cooled computers has some evaporation (due to the fact of the micro pores in flexible tubing), you may need to add a little after two years. This of course depends on how big a reserve you have.

Our ingredients in the coolant slow down the evaporation prcess but do not completely stop it. We recommend that it should be checked from time to time just to be safe. Under normal use the coolant should not have to be completely drained out and replaced for at least 5 years."

This makes me feel a lot better.

I suggest every 6 months to a year, or for that extra reassurance, every 3 months should be okay. However if you notice that your temperatures start to run a little hot then you should defienetly check on your water cooling just to be on the safe side.
