Hey everyone! I'm setting up a new design, and I'm new to Digital Storm.
I'm hoping to get some feedback on my design: Is this a good setup? (For high quality gaming) Will the setup work? Is the power supply good enough? Is there anything that I maybe shouldn't get? If you are doing gaming I would go with these changes.
Configuration: 1061720 Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Corsair Obsidian 550D Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 4690K 3.50 GHz (Codename Devils Canyon) (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO (Intel Z97 Chipset) (Features 802.11ac Wi-Fi Connectivity) System Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair CX750M Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (250GB Samsung 840 EVO) Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (1TB Western Digital - Black Edition) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB (Includes PhysX) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 240mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler (Extreme-Performance Edition) H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Airflow Control: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: Fan Blow-Hole: Graphics Card Area Only: Laser Cut and Mount a Side Window 140mm Fan Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz I added the overclock since you had the stage 2 cooling so might as well get the stage 1 overclock for extra performance. I left in the blow hole since why not. Moved to a GTX 980 since the titan is likely not needed. The GTX 980 offers better gaming performance anyway. The PSU is fine. Hmm interesting! @Ariktu
Is the 980 better than the Titan? I always thought the more video memory you had the better the game would run. |

I agree with Ariktu and the link Arkansas posted shows why. The gtx 980 is at least as good and usually better for gaming than the Titan Black. The added vram, 6gb vs 4gb, isn't needed even for 4K monitors. If you were into scientific modeling, math intense applications then the TItan is worth it. 980 is a lot less wattage and saves $500.
Good luck. |
