Hi MechEng,

Could you provide your configuration number so we can bring up your build.

With just a quick look I see some improvements/changes you could make.

1. Change the EVO SSD to the 850 256 Pro SSD. You could also consider the 1x SSD PCIe (400GB Intel 750 Series) (PCIe - NVM Express) A bit more money but much higher speeds if that is important to you. Don't know if it will help much with gaming.

2. The liquid cooling you have selected is for a single GPU but you are equiping two GPUs. It would be better to LC both or air cool both. I would change the LC to Level three. That will give you two GPUs, CPU and chipset.

Frank

Make sure to get the rampage V EXTREME - not the rampage V black.

Also, what Frank said.

Change the SDD to the 850 pro edition for $48 more and you get a 10 year warranty vs 5 years and it is faster.

Other than that it looks good to go.

Alex or Nav would be the best to answer this. : )

You might want to e-mail one of them or call DS and ask for them to return your call.

The upcoming Aventum 3 won't be out for a few months, I don't have a firm date, but assume summer.

Can we just take a moment here to appreciate the fact that Alex from Digital Storm is online and answering questions at 0417 (or 4:17am) on a Sunday?

Seriously?

Hi MechEng,

I looked at your configuration and it looks good. The only suggestion you didn't follow is to change the EVO SSD to the Pro model. I don't know if that was an oversight or you decided to stay with the EVO.

I also see you are now $1,000 over your budget. Is that going to be OK?

The Aventum III is going to have plumbing in place that will make it easier for an owner to add additional LC components. This saves you from sending the computer back to Digital Storm for LC modifications. So if you do upgrade to four GPUs then the Aventum III would be an advantage for you. If you know how to work with LC systems and can open the loop, add more equipment and modify the loop, then you are good with the Aventum II. You will still have to open the loop with the Aventum III but it will be easier.

The Aventum is a monster case and every time you ship it there is a chance for the computer to get damaged. Many people who buy the Aventum have it shipped on a pallet for better protection. That is another option for you to consider.

Frank

thanks all, for the help and suggestions. i will take the advice from you all when i do get the build. i think i will wait for the aventum 3 as i will probably not want to ship it back if i can do the upgrades myself, unless of course the problem is out of my know how.

i printed out all of you guys' advice and will definitely change the evo to the pro model on my final build when the aventum 3 is released, and yes 1000 dollars over should be ok with the mrs. also, thanks for the pallet info will def have to do that; i am hoping i will get it without no damage first time around but i knwo that is out of DS' control.

Out of curiosity where do you see the options for either version of the Rampage? on my Velox and Aventum configurator the only option is "Rampage". It doesn't specify which version.
