Sapphire Radeon TOXIC R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 with Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB DDR5
Does that sound like it would be a nice setup? Would it be possible,, I heard that the R9 280x uses the Tahiti GPU and so it can crossfire with the 7950. Or would it make more sense to crossfire two 7950s? |

Sapphire R9 280X Dual X $300
Sapphire R9 280x Triple X Toxic $350 Sapphire Radeon 7950 Dual X $250 With my Single 7950 the only time I have noticed any lag, frame rate issues has been playing Metro Last light on Ultra settings. I'm not sure if it is worth it to spend 300 dollars just to have a cool setup. Any Opinions? Edited by John1017 - 06 Nov 2013 at 9:19pm |

Hi John.... Crossfire is a lot more flexible than SLI in what can be combined. I think the 7950 and r9 280 can be cf'd but not 100%...
Adding another card for a single 1920x1080 monitor for just a couple of games on Ultra is definitely a personal and financial decision. I personally have always, when helping with configs, suggested a single card unless you just have to max everything out. Less potential issues, cheaper and a couple of settings tweeted down is little noticed. If you have the $bucks, then go for it. You're call. |
