There is a big hard drive shortage that has started now due to the Thailand flooding. We're doing our best to obtain hard drives from all sources, wholesale and retail. I just wanted to let everyone know about this. SSD drives are not affected. Even though some companies like Seagate's factories were not affected by the floods, their supplier for some of the components inside the drives was.

Floods in Thailand have rattled the hard drive supply chain from component suppliers to giants like Western Digital and ultimately PC and server makers will be affected, say analysts. Thailand's disaster has shut down 14,000 factories, flooded hundreds of thousands of homes and put more than 660,000 out of work.

I wanted to give everyone an update on this. Prices of hard drives have been going up every week. Prices are now almost double the original price a few weeks ago. Because of this, our system prices have been slowly going up. I highly recommend that potential customers place an order ASAP to ensure they have the best pricing.

Oh wow! I really hope my dad ordered and is just not telling me instead of just waiting around and pushing it off (he does do that often ><). Because, knowing him he'll want me to use his company discount to get a dell computer or something. ><'

Just as an update, prices on hard drives continues to go up. Due to this, we have to increase the price of our systems.

Thanks. Do you know how much this will effect the ode prices? Or will you just be removing the 10% off promo to make up for it or something?

Hoping my dad ordered it, but, he's a hard man to get a hold of. I should go grab his phone to check his email next time I see him. XD

I understand your situation, and I'll get to that magical DSO order moment as soon as possible. The good news is that I'm almost there. Smile

The market price of hard drives has almost tripled! Whoa

We've had to increase our hard drive prices for our systems which drives up the price of the systems, but, we didn't update the ODE prices. We've been absorbing those price increases by reducing our margins on them, however, the prices are high enough where we are now loosing money on every ODE that we're selling. Because of that, we're forced to change the hard drive selection from the 1TB to a 500GB to keep the same target price points. We may have to increase the price of the ODE systems over time if the prices continue to rise.

This is an unfortunate situation, and we're sorry for any inconvenience. I just hope the flooding in Thailand which is causing this gets resolved soon.

Hopefully when this flooding issue goes away, the market prices on hard drives will go back down so we may lower our prices again. ETA for that to happen is in middle of Q1 of next year...

This stinks but maybe a reason for some to get a few SSD's and raid them?

EDIT: looks like unlicencedhitman just made my point for me.

True, but, SSD's are still more expensive than the hard drives.
