Hi everyone,
I bought a Marauder 3 from Digital Storm in March 2013. It's handled every game I have thrown at it (good rig man). However it has a 660 TI right now and I think given the current trends in gaming that I am due an upgrade. I am thinking of putting in a GTX 980. I'd like to know if my system will be compatible for it? Specs: Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V LX Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K PSU: 600W Corsair GS |

It should slip right in with no problem. The mobo and the power supply are fine. Just have to use the additional 6 pin psu connector, for a total of 2 of them for most 980s.
Good Luck. |

Oh great! Thanks! The psu should have that extra 6 pin right? |

Yep, that psu has the 2 connectors you need. The other might be Ty-wrapped back somewhere , but it should be there.
Double check before you buy the card, but I'm pretty confident it does. Edited by bprat22 - 19 Mar 2015 at 12:00pm |

I'll definitely check and thanks man! I don't think that psu series is made anymore but I should be able to track down the specs for it. |

I just checked and it looks like it has 2x 6+2 pin like my cx600M. You'll use the 6 pin plugs and just fold back the optional 2 pin connector to each plug.

Ok great! That soothes some worries! I am going to have someone help me install it so I wanted to make sure before I ordered. Looking at the MSI 4g version of the 980 cause it has good reviews on Newegg. Thanks for the help! |

If I'm looking at the same MSI card, you'll be using the 2x 6+2 pin , both parts of each plug. It takes 2x 8 pin. Still good to go.

I was just looking at that card and wondering if it was going to work so thanks for checking on that! I was debating about whether to drop to a evga or another brand based on that. Good to know it will still work! |

I'm not 100%, but the extra pins for the MSI I believe is because it has the cooler to take a higher overclock, which means more power needed if you used the extra horsepower.

Have fun. The boost in gaming will be amazing, something like 2-3 times what your 660 has.
