Quick question, should I OC my NVIDIA 780 Ti? Or keep it how it was.
Thanks! |

Overclocking the 780 Ti gives you MUCH more performance. You can see our OC results here. GTX 780 Ti Overclock

Is there any cons to it? Temperature increase, draws more power?

Overclocking does generate more temp and draw more power. Neither is a problem if its done to a modest level and you have adequate cooling.

You should be good to go. Just monitor your gpu temps as you overclock. Overclocking is also a dance between setting the clock speed and voltage to the chip to keep it stable, so you don't get rendering faults, black screen, etc. The higher the clock speed the higher the voltage needed to run it. Read up on how to do it before hand.
Sometimes using a program like EVGA Precision X to setup a custom fan profile works the best to get the card's fan to increase in rpm sooner than the factory profile. Factory settings for the fan are more geared to keeping it as quiet as possible, as long as possible, and then when temps hit the mid 80's, they kick on higher. With a custom, 1 on 1 profile as is the default in Precision, the fans ramp up sooner, make more noise sooner, but help with temps. Edited by bprat22 - 11 Jun 2014 at 5:58am |

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely do my research before I purchase.. I'm glad my basement is 60-65 degrees in the summer... It's like Antarctica in my basement during winter.

I feel like someone recently did a nice long write up on the pro's and con's to overclocking in the overclocking section on the forums... maybe I'm mistaken.

This has nothing to do with overclocking, but what's a better hard drive? Seagate, or Western Digital. The thought came up by looking at your specs. I assume WD stands for Western Digital. |
