I know what I want, but I have a M4 256gb SSD in my hands.

Can I mail this to digitalstormonline and they put that in the build I want?

Depending on what case you buy, it's usually pretty easy to put it in yourself. I don't see any need to send it to them.

Hi Ironwolf1974,

DS will usually do that with just about any equipment. They will charge you for any additional cost.

Yes, we can install hardware that the customer sends in. We will have to charge you a fee to install into the chassis and for general support/etc in the future. Also, please note, we won't be able to offer any warranty replacements from our own inventory on it as it is a special item shipped to us.

From what I understand the Asus 27 inch monitor with the new Nvidia 2 3d setup will run just fine with one GTX 680.  If Im right then a single card rig.

Ill post my setup once I figured it all out :)

Hi Ironwolf1974.....If the 3D monitor you talk of is the Asus VG278H then a single card might not max out, on ultra settings all games like BF3, Metro, etc.   You can play them very good on lower settings, like high,  but here's a good link to see fps running the new 7970 and older gtx590 both single.  The gtx 680 is like 10% -15%better than 7970 in certain settings.

With 3D you are in fact running two screems in one, with 3D needing to render two images at once.  That's what 3D is.  So you are running two 1920x1050 monitors as far as gpu power is concerned.

The single gtx680 will run it very well.  But to max out certain games you  might see fps drop to the 30's at times.   Still good gaming, but some want fps always 60fps plus.

27" 3D on a 1920x1050 resolution is like running a 27" standard monitor in 2560x1600 or so.

Hope this helps.  Big%20Smile

This is the config I was thinking about, but I could go SLI.  Ive had bad experience with SLI so far.  My dual gtx 275's were on the fritz all the time.  Currently I have dual gtx 580s but cant play certain games without flickering.  When I alt-tab between programs it sometimes locks up my computer completely.

So though I know Digital Storm will stress test it and all that, Ive still had bad experiences with it.

If this rig is for gaming only, no 3D modeling, video editing and rendering, etc, then the X79 platform isn't needed.  The Z68V-pro/Gen 3 with i7-2600k is all you need.

That is a nice case , but the HafX is tops in cooling, with a 230mm fan in front , a 200mm fans top and on the side blowing right on the gpu's.

The Zalman fans are noisy and not needed in the HafX case.

Stage 3 cooling isn't true water cooling.  You're better off with the D14 if you go z68 or the H100 if you go x79 mobo.

8GB of ram is all gaming can use, unless the 16GB is for other things.

If you want the option to sli, then the psu should be 1050HX.

See what you think....

Alot of times just selecting vsync will fix flickering in some cases.

I do some modeling for Skyrim mods, so I want the extra memory and the x79 platform.  And I kinda like that case look, might go with the HAF X though.

Then your original build is real good.  I would however change psu to 1050HX for sli, maybe the mobo to p9x79 Deluxe for it's built in wifi.  You wouldn't need that wireless card and the Asus Deluxe is PCIe.3.0 supported whenever ivy bridge comes out.  Not that it'll make much difference but ya never know later on.  Not sure if the EVGA supports PCI e 3.0.

Mobo's are tough to suggest, though.  If someone sees a feature they like then go for it.  Too many different features on too many mobo's to say for sure.  They are very individual.

Change the cpu cooler to the H100.  DS says they need it for X79 chipset running hotter and stage 2 oc plus the 240mm radiator mounted to the top of the 800D, if you kept it, would give you fans on top.  The stock 800D has no fans on top.  HafX is still tops in air cooling.  Some like the looks and some hate it.

Oh, and, you could save $300 if you don't need the 6 core i7-3930k and went with the i7-3820k 4 core.  Again, depends on your needs.  You know better than I.

Don't forget your free t-shirt.Big%20Smile

Overall, your initial build is nice.

I love SkyrimBig%20Smile  Have mounted a number of sound, texture mods and the deadly dragon mod.

Nice rig.Big%20Smile

For sli we always recommend the 1050HX psu.  The 850w might do it, especially with the lower power requirments of the 680's, but as psu's age they become less efficient.  The 850 wouldn't give you much head-room.

The 2133Mhz ram I assume is for your needs, the 1600Mhz is usually all one needs.  But your call of course.  Modeling might use it.

The Deluxe mobo would handle the sli, and with built in wifi, the extra card not needed.  But for an extra $68, you have room to do anything you want.  Big%20Smile

The free gpu oc'ing is just stress on the cards for little or no gain.

This build is gonna make you happy for some time.Awesome

Keep us updated.Big%20Smile

Hi Ironwolf1974,

bprat22 is giveing you very good advise but for some reason you have missed the bullseye on your last build.

1. You switched from the HAF-X case to the Hailstorm but you have air cooled GPUs. The Hailstorm is a great case for a full LC system but not a good choice for air. You will be much better off with the HAF-X case for your last configuration and save some money.

2. The 1050HF is a much better PS than the 850. Take the money you save on the HAF-X case and get this PS.

3. If you are building a gaming machine you don't need the 2133Mhz memory. You especially don't need to buy Corsair memory. It won't do anything that the DS memory doesn't do.

4. As stated by bprat22, if you get the Deluxe Mobo you don't need the wireless card.

5. Don't OC the GPUs. You will see little, if any, real gain. GPUs are high stress units that operate at high temps. No need to increase the stress.

6. You forgot your T-Shirt.

7. Unless you need some very special feature or work in foreign languages, you don't need Win-7 Ultimate. Win-7 Pro gives a gamer all they need.

Almost all of these items have been pointed out by bprat22 but you still seem to be off course just a little bit. I suggest you follow his advise.

Frank

All of the things you say are great, BUT, I want a case with easily accessible hot swappable drives.

I have 4 HDD's at 2tb each that contain a ton of info.  I dont want to be going into the case all the time.

Though I guess if I go with the HAFX I could get an external.

How is this?  Id really like to keep those hot swap bays :)

Hi Ironwolf1974....The Enix case is going in the wrong directionCry

It is small, the case is noisy and it would have trouble getting rid of all the heat when things get cranking.  Tests have shown, when the case starts heating up because all the heat can't get expelled quick enough, the gpu's fans kick into high gear to compensate.

HafX still winsBig%20Smile  Would the HafX sata dock appeal to you for your extra drives?  The drives have to be screwed to the sled to make contact in back, but the case doesn't have to be opened.  Hot Swap is quicker though.

If you can't see getting the Hafx, and not everyone wants one, then the 800D will work, but I think fans would have to be added.  DS makes pretty much anything work, just some options are better for the components.

Glad you changed psu to 1050HX and ram to 1600Mhz.   The mobo is a very individual thing.  One has to compare features for what one needs, so enough said on that.Big%20Smile

The rig you're putting together is gonna smoke things for a long time.  Good Luck and keeps us updated.

If you like the Haf X but want hot swap bays (like bprat said, it already comes with two sata docks), you can order them from DS. In the customization menu you can pick them under Storage/Connectivity > Expansion Bay

Ive ordered but a hell of a time trying to get my credit card to process lol!

Hopefully we can get it sorted out.

I finally decided on the 600t White Case, that thing is pretty.

I know I know, you all are going to harp on me about cooling this and that.  But I think it will have plenty and it looks nice.

Ordered that 27" Asus Nvidia 2 3D monitor also.

Going to be gaming in style soon!

Hi Ironwolof1974,

Congrats on your purchase. I think you will find that the 600T is a black case. Are you sure you are getting the white case??

Ironwolf1974....CongratsAwesome
The 600T white, like was said, is the ODE line-up only.  600T graphite/black is the other and doesn't have the side window.  You can buy it but I'm not sure if DS has them.
The 600T case cools just fine.

We just want to make sure you know what your getting in case you need to call.

Good Luck and keep us posted.Big%20Smile
