Microsoft plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, publisher of some of the most popular games on the planet (from World of Warcraft to Call of Duty), as well as the studios currently embroiled in multiple lawsuits related to accusations of gender discrimination in its workplace, the company announced Tuesday. Xbox boss Phil Spencer will serve as the CEO of Microsoft Gaming and oversee Activision Blizzard once the transaction is finalized.

ssgmike,

Thanks for the update!

If ssgmike ID meant Staff Sergeant Mike, I would like to thank you for your service!

I spent 6 years in the Army and was also a sergeant.

Personally I do not view this as good news. If you like Blizzard games as they are now, say good bye. There is no reason for M$ to acquire them unless it is to fleece the gamers IN MY OPINION.

Just as EA has purchased and destroyed many publishers I expect M$ to do the same.

Yeah. I agree with you (and JayzTwoCents), EA was okay as strictly a game publisher but horrible after getting involved with the actual development.

Like Bungie selling out to Microsoft? Ugh! Disappointment. But on the bright side, the Game Pass library will/would expand.

I joined the Army when I was 18 back in 70 and was stationed in Bad Kissingen, Butzbach, & Wildflecken Germany with the HAWK Missle system. I got out in 77. Later I started at McDonnell Douglas as a data center technician. I retired from Boeing as a Systems Administrator about 8 years ago.

We are very active in the local VFW. My wife was President of the Auxiliary for several years and she is there several times a week in support activities. I do my best to keep their bar in business and the gaming machines in place.

I am very proud that my son is a VFW member having served 6 years and stationed in Korea. My daughter is also a VFW member since she served 6 years in the Air Force during Desert Storm in Diego Garcia. Since I only served in Germany I am just in the Auxiliary.

I remember fondly when I first started at Mc Donnell Douglas that everybody I worked with in the data center were Veterans and that allowed us all just to get the job done without games.

Salute & Respect for your service and sacrifices during Vietnam!

thank you again for your service, looks like you had an interesting career with the military.
My Veteran activity is with the Military Order of the Purple Heart being combat wounded. Prior Sr. Vice Commander of Father Capodanno Chapter 1101 MOPH and DAV, both chapters in Staten Island NY. I moved out of SI back in 2013 to NJ. Sadly we had to shut down Chapter 1101 to not enough members attending meetings. Joined MOPH Chapter 10 here in NJ as a regular member. Dealing with medical issues takes most of my time. But still kicking.
Keep on gaming, stay safe

Activision Blizzard has been bleeding talent for a while. Let's see what MS can do with it.
