    Posted: 28 Jun 2013 at 10:07pm
I'm having some issues with my Bolt level 4, with a Titan. Certain games I 'try' to play crash and freeze up on me 10-15 minutes into gameplay. I have GeForce Experience installed to ensure I don't miss out on any drivers. My drivers are up-to-date. The game that it happens the most on is Metro: Last Light and CS:GO. StarCraft 2, Diablo 3 and CS Source, it doesn't happen at all. I've research it for Metro and I haven't been the only one with this issue, but I haven't found a solid answer/fix to the issue. So I'm wondering if anyone on here has had this happen to them and if they found a fix for it. This whole situation is aggravating as...

Errors that I've seen:

'Drivers experience problems, have been resolved.' - that was no help to me

Metro.LL Error

CS:GO.exe had an issue as well.

To avoid possible questions I might receive. I've re-installed Metro and CS:GO, oh I don't know, about a dozen times along with Steam itself. Not sure what else I can do. Please help!

Hi Umibouzu....   If its happening with a couple of games but others run for hours with no problem then its doubtful its anything hardware related.   No gaurantees but its a fair bet.

I would disable GeForce Experience.   Auto driver update in my opinion is a so-so idea.     Updating drivers, especially new ones just released can go great or drive you crazy.   If it works then leave drivers alone until they've been around for awhile.   Next, download and install an older driver for your Titan. Try a couple of different ones if needed.

Hope this helps.

Issues still existing. This is what's been happening recently. Email to DS:

I'm having a few issues with my Bolt Level 4 system. I'm not entirely sure what the issue is, if it's software or programs, but it's hindering me from utilizing this great machine. Especially after only having the computer for 5 days. The issue that I'm having is that every time I get into a game (specifically Metro: Last Light and Counterstrike: GO) 10-15 minutes of playing I end up crashing or freezing the game. Once I'm able to get to the desktop, I've seen numerous errors, but the most recent one is "UNEXPECTED_KERNAL_MODE_TRAP". The following is a list of what I've installed since I've received my Bolt and what I've un-installed once all of these issues started occurring

Installed:
- GeForce Experience - to ensure that I'm aware of any new drivers that are available (I've learned that it's possibly better to manually install them though, so I've started to do that)
- Steam
- Metro: Last Light
- Counterstrike: Source
- Counterstrike: GO
- Diablo 3
- StarCraft 2
- Logitech Gaming Software (Mouse and Keyboard)
- Java 7
- Avast!

Un-Installed:
- Counterstrike: Source
- Avast! (Heard that anti-virus software can interfere with game play)

Changes/Updates:
- Degraded Video drivers from 320.49 to 320.14 then to 320.18 and back to 320.49. I've reinstalled 320.49 (most recent) numerous times.
- Re-installed - Metro: Last Light - Twice
- Re-installed - Counterstrike: Source - Once
- Re-installed - Steam

I've been asked to play Metro in safe mode numerous times. I don't feel the need to even think about safe mode, my system can run the game as well as you know. I just need to figure out why it keeps kicking me out. As you might have guessed, I'm not exactly PC savvy, I've been on Mac for quite some time and I was referenced to DS to have a reliable smooth running gaming computer. I don't have all the time in the world to tinker around on the computer to research and try to figure out something I know nothing about. So I'm really hoping DS can talk me through this dilemma that I'm going through without having to send the computer back into DS. I don't feel that that is necessary at all if I can perform what ever is mandatory from my end.

This situation is a bit frustrating, especially after only having the computer for a week and not doing very much with it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

To Forum: I have not received any BSOD, only the Errors and Messages. What else can I do????

Have you tried disabling overclock in your BIOS settings and see if that helps?

I agree.

I would disable the overclock to see if the system becomes stable then call DS to get an overclock that is stable.

Reset my overclock in BIOS to default.. everything is running smoothly now. It's very unfortunate to pay for something that doesn't work... but what are ya gonna do. Im not the type of person that's gonna go through the hassle of returning something and dealing with all of the shipping and additional costs to get it the way I originally wanted. It works great and im still very happy. I'll deal for now! Thanks again to everyone that helped.

It is possible with a few small tweaks they can get you a stable overclock.

I would really call them and see if they can help you with that.

The thing is I don't want to ship my computer back into DS for something I can live without. If they can direct me over the phone step-by-step.. sure. If not though, I'm over it. Like I said, I'm not going to possibly pay additional shipping/handling/whatever to get something that I originally wanted but don't have and in turn can still live without. Thanks for the advice though, I do appreciate it!

They may be able to either talk you through redoing a stable overclock, or send you step by step to do it yourself.

Umibouzu

You don't have to ship anything.
Just call DS

Another option is to go into the BIOS and use the built in Asus AI Overclock Tuner.

My Bolt was locking up in Black Ops II at 4.5Ghz.
The Asus AI Overclock Tuner put my system at 4.2 Ghz and its been rock solid stable.

Considering the CPU is 3.5Ghz, getting 4.2 is a nice OC.

When I am home during business hours I am going to Give DS a call and see if we can get me up to 4.3 or 4.

Nvidia experience is reported as buggy by many users.  You need to install the latest drivers with a custom clean installor your driver may have a bad install.  Please try this before removing your overclock and taking all those steps...

Make sure you have afterburner off and precision off and set them to NOT start with windows and reboot your PC.  Go into your task manager and make sure "RTSS" is NOT running
1.  Download the latest driver and put file on desktop
2.  Click the file and install
3.  When it comes to the part where you can choose advanced/custom click that
4.  Uncheck everything except the driver and physx (unless you need sound from your HDMI then make sure that is checked but leave unchecked if you can)
5.  Make sure "clean install" is checked
6. Install
7. reboot

EDIT:  Sorry I missed where you said you found that your overclock was not stable and it solved your problems.  I will leave the drive install steps up because that's the best way to do them if you wanna try this too.

Umibouzu....   Like Alex suggested, give DS a call. Stabilizing your overclock is an adjustment over the phone, within Bios, so you can enjoy the benefits of oc'ing.

Good luck.

I called earlier today and I am now running a really stable 4.4Ghz Overclock.

So I got another .2 OC from their technical expertise and all it took was 10 minutes of my time.

Give them a call. You will not be disappointed!!!!

Awesome thanks everyone for, basically, calming me down. I'll be giving DS a call Monday of next due to the holiday week/weekend, unless they're open Friday (which I'll be trying). Hopefully they'll be able to point me in the right direction, my assumption now is that they will.

Thanks again.
