Hello, i am in need of help trying to pick a new rig out for gameing. I atm have a dell xps,pent4 3.4ghz,2gb ram,niv 8600 512gb....i have had this now for 6 years and its time for a new one as no good games will run on this rig now. As you can tell i would like to get 5 to 6 years out of a new rig.I use this rig for games more then anything else. I have a samsung syncmaster 226cw vid monitor and not looking to upgrade it at this time(as for the vid monitor settings the higher the better).I play all games at the highest res setting that the vid card can handle. Some of the new games i would like this new PC to run are : bio shock 2, mass effect2, the new crysis (when ever it comes out),KOTOR online and WOW online(my main game).. I had intel chip in every pc i have ever had so would like to stay with them but i have no clue what chip to pick.I like the i7 chips but no clue what speed i would need for a game rig. For the vid card or cards i really would like the best for the money i can afford so nivia or ati makes no differnce to me which ever is going to last a few years b4 i have to upgrade the card or cards. I am willing to spend around 3k for the new rig. Would also like to know if DS has finance options ( trying to hide this from my wife)ConfusedThanks for your time and help.

1. go with the i7-920 processor. it's the lowest in its rank of i7's, but overclocking the 920 is really easy, especially if you let DS do it for you. this will save you lots of money.

2. currently, ati is the only dx11 co. nvidia will debut its dx11 cards in march perhaps. what resolution will you be using?

3. i don't think DS has finance options .. pay all-in-once.

does that mean you're planning on getting a new monitor ?
cause your max res is based off your monitor
