I have DS sending me one of these.
I was reading about on the net and some say they have the "XXX" version.
Anyone any idea what this is and weather DS sends that one out?
Thanks

Generally they are a factory overclocked version with maybe a few extras thrown in, but that is rare.
DS does not sell the factory overclocked versions as far as i know. If they say they are sending out a XFX 260, then it will be the stock version.
Keep in mind in all reguards they are the same, the only difference being that the clock is higher and is guarenteed at that speed. Chances are decent to average that a stock 260 will be able to hit 260 XXX speeds when overclocked, but there is also a chance it might not, its a gamble. What youre really paying the extra cash is for the guarentee that the card will run at the listed speed.
For example I got new video cards after i bought my DS machine. I replaced the 9800GX2 stock with two EVGA GTX 280 FTW editions which were rated to run at 670mhz instead of the stock 602mhz, that was the only difference between those cards and the stock cards.

I think the GDDR and the DDR is just a typo. They should both be GDDR.

Superclocked GTX 260 with 216 cores pulls very close to GTX 280 speeds without spending that kind of money. Other things to know:
The card runs 2D/3D clocks seperately. When in 2D mode the clocks are 300/600/1000 to save energy. The minute you kick the card into 3D mode 626/1350/2106. With the 216 cores and Superclocks...this card plays heavily against any ATI card except the 4870x2. Gets very very close to the 280 and holds it's own. |

I think the x2 for the price is great for people who have a high resolution and need 2 cards, the x2 will provide that for you in one card. once you get into high resolution the x2 separates itself from the others.

I run an XFX GTX 260 stock and it will oc to 720/1180 with no problems. I love the card and it runs my 24 inch monitor with ease in all but Crysis. Now if programmers would hurry up and support 4 core gaming so my CPU would not hold the system back.

For those of you that are interested, pay attention to the resolutions, they are colored differently.
Notice that the 4870x2 only separates itself from others in higher resolutions. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Oct 2008 at 4:53pm |

WoW. I just did a little comparison betweent he 280 and the 260. I must say. In my eyes the 260 is by far the best deal for the money.
