I suggest you check out http://forum.avsim.net/index.php?. Look in the hardware forum there and ask questions, you will be required to register. Also, "Flightsim" is rather broad, so it is hard to tell you what hardware might or might not work well. If there are specific sims you are interested in, telling us that may help us give you advice.

IL2 Sturmovik series, including the upcoming IL2 Stalingrad, and the old MS FSx.
Also the Sims 3/4 & SimCity stuff. I changed the config a bit (new number) --> 1017970 > 750gb @ 7200rpm instead of 1tb @ 5400rpm > GTX 870m w/6gb instead of 860m w/4gb > added the t-shirt Edited by taw2015 - 25 Jul 2014 at 2:43am |

Looking at the recommended hardware for those games, I don't see any issues with your build. The only concern I would have is if the games can't take advantage of the 4 cores, since the base clock on that CPU is 2.8Ghz.
I still suggest you poke around the AV Sims forumes for people with direct experience with the games in question. |

It's been here for awhile:
Stage 5: (Phase 2 Stress Testing) Your order has been passed to our final phase 2 stress-testing team. They run a final batch of tests to verify the integrity and stability of your system. This allows us to ensure that every system we ship will be a rock solid machine for years to come. I'm patiently waiting. |

Arrived!!!
One major problem, though: a worthless flashy LED thingy in front of the speakers that cannot be turned off anywhere I can see. It has nothing to do with the keyboard backlight. Anyone know how to toggle it off? |

Hi taw2015...Congrats on your new delivery.
As far as the EQ lighting, while researching a problem for others I didn't see any way to toggle the lights. Not sure, however. Some like it and some find it annoying. You might try loading the SBX-fi drivers from the DVD and using the EAX/EQ module to make adjustments. I don't have the laptop and can't give any hands-on. Good luck. I couldn't find anything, either.
One wag suggested muting the sound, and that worked, but it's not fun watching Iron Man 3 with the sound off, so ...
Another suggested disconnecting the circuit, but I'd have to send the machine back for that to take place.
Another heard it was simply a matter of removing the driver for it, though he didn't know which driver it was.
I'll try what you said and then post my results.

Just thinking, dangerous I know, but the bezel above the keyboard with the lighting might pop off for access underneath. MAYBE, some way to unplug or tape a connection.
I love taking things apart and experimenting but this is all on you. Don't break it by listening to me. |
