Topic: filter cleaning? Posted: 16 Sep 2014 at 7:15pm |
I have a Digital Storm I got about 9 months or so ago. I notice on the front where I guess a fan is that it's slowly turning white. A 4 inch or so circular spot that is turning white. The case is black. Is that a filter going bad? Is there maintenance needed? It's a water cooled unit.
I looked in the binder I got with it and I don't see anything there about maintenance. I've not done anything to it since I bought it. Should I be checking a water level? If so, how? I have not noticed any performance issues but don't want it to come to that. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Thanks! ~ Keen |

Even a water cooled unit that has fans needs its filters cleaned. The "white" you are seeing is dust buildup on an intake fan's filter. Take a few moments to unplug your machine, pull the sides off, and do a gentle cleaning (compressed air is a wonderful thing) and make sure to clean the filters.
As far as checking water levels, I am of no use. I've never had a machine under water so we'll wait for the smart folks to log in...

You have a Vanquish level 4 system I believe.
The current systems use Air cooling. The older units used a sealed liquid cooling system so neither needs to have water levels checked so you are good. |

The water cooled unit you have are sealed units and doesn't require any maintenance at all.
