It's an IPS... so expensive for only 1080p and < 24".

That IPS makes it expensive.   IPS usually means slower response time and/or refresh rate, but color depth and reproduction is on point.

In my opinion, I'd still rather have a TN panel that is either 1440p or 27" 1080p for that kind of price range.

But, if you want screen popping, amazing colors, etc... I'd think it should be pretty good just because it's an IPS. Can't speak for the brand or who's panel they are using though. I'd hope for their premium price tag though, it's be good.

That monitor has a 4.9 ms (Gray-to-gray) response time and the input lag is 0.05 which can you find something like that on an ips monitor? Here is another link to it.

http://gaming.eizo.com/products/foris_fs2434/

Ezio has apparently been around for awhile and is the king of making monitors, http://www.eizoglobal.com/ is their main website.

The king is relative to many things.

IPS is not for color accuracy and TN is known for faster response/refresh rate.   IE, this type of monitor will typically cap out between 60hz to maybe close to 75hz if you choose to overclock it, where as your TN panels can go up to... say 144hz on their refresh rate.

Input response is eh. 5ms is ok. But that refresh rate is what you want to watch if you ever want to game on it. High FPS games can cause screen tearing (without vsync). Which is a common thing when you're pushing like 90FPS on an IPS screen.

Will this monitor be good for watching movies? Absolutely. @ 24fps on most movies, you'll be well within your refresh rate, and that color accuracy that IPS is made for will look great.

If you want to game on it. Sure, go a head. But, in my opinion, for that premium of a price, I'd rather get a 1440p monitor a 27" 1080p TN panelover a sub 24" IPS. I like higher refresh rates so I can enjoy my higher FPS, more than I like extreme color definition.

it's a give and take. And it comes down to your opinion here on IPS vs TN and the brand. Me, personally, I wouldn't even consider the monitor. But that's because I don't care so much for extremely color accuracy. I like higher resolution, higher refresh rate monitors.

Hi ArkansasWoman777,

I think it would be a good monitor for watching movies and stuff. There are a bunch of people on this forum that game on an IPS monitor with great results. If you want the best movie results, an IPS monitor is what you want.

Ezio has made its reputation on building TVs with good performance with a reasonable price. You will find a lot of Ezio TVs at Walmart and Sam's. I am not familiar with their monitors but I bet you will get a lot for your buck.

Yep, I do.  Strong  A Dell U2311H . Circa 2011.    I love the color, sharpnesss and contrast.   I've never noticed any motion blur, ghosting etc.   Gaming at 60fps on a 60Hz is excellent for the IPS.

Never had a TN so can't really compare.      Big%20Smile

of course 60 fps at 60hz is excellent lol. It's in sync. It's the 90 fps sh*t that can start to cause issues

Everyone using a 24" or 30" Dell are probably using an IPS monitor. I am using a 23" IPS NEC monitor that uses the same screen as the Del and Viewsonic. Most of these monitors were bought before Meller was a member.

Not seeing a bunch.

Anyways, I feel as if you think I'm trash talking IPS. IPS, as I said is amazing for color accuracy but slower refresh rates. Where as TN is amazing on refresh rate, but less on color accuracy.

That is why gaming isn't idle on IPS. Just because depending on who's panel it is, you can start to experience ghosting and screen tearing on IPS panels if you're gaming at high fps.

This is extremely obvious if specifically Dell's IPS panels. You can go on youtube, and watch a lot of reviews showing just that, not to mention you can read it on several big review sites.

IPS displays an amazing picture. Image quality isn't too much the IPS as it's the resolution, but IPS offers the best range of colors, and best true color display.

You must understand, that I'm not trash talking IPS, in case that's how you were taking it. We most likely won't be seeing any 120hz or 144hz (or higher) fresh rate IPS monitors for a minute, unless you're willing to spend thousands.

That's all.

If I am remember her model correctly it is indeed an IPS. I've never had any gaming issues ever on my Dell IPS, which I (think) is what Oldlady_Rpger has. Though hers is bigger than mine. LOL

That Dell UltraSharp was a crappy monitor for gaming. It had some really bad ghosting problems.

But that's not why I'm reviving this thread. Remember what I said (if not scroll up) on IPS have the best color accuracy, etc... but it had slower refresh rates. That's why a lot of gamers prefer a TN panel as it will allow them to get that 120hz-144hz refresh rate, IE eliminating ghosting/screen tearing? Give up some color reproduction for a much smoother game play.

Well, looks like we can finally start to see IPS panels finally offering 120hz to 144hz refresh rates, while not costing us an arm and a leg (depending how much you think an arm and a leg is worth).

http://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/monitors/anton-shilov/asustek-unveils-wqhd-ips-display-with-120hz144hz-refresh-rate/

Though they don't talk about pricing really as it hasn't been confirmed/released, we can get a some what idea.

The current SWIFT 1440p 144hz monitor by ASUS is $799 and it's a TN panel. So we can probably expect the IPS panel to b $800 also if they want to make it a standard and wide spread. But take it with grain of salt as I'm personally guessing $800 +/- $200. I wouldn't be surprised to see this IPS monitor, though only 1440p for over $800.
