For those that can't get enough VRAM, here's a gtx 780 with 6GB vram.

Very nice. It also looks like the Ti versions with the 6GB vram may be out in May or June if you look at the comments there's a link to an EVGA product manager (post #39) that mentions that...Seems like a lot of new stuff coming out right around the time I purchase...

the GTX Titan Black is essentially a GTX 780 Ti with 6 GB of VRAM. Not sure why EVGA would market a GTX 780 Ti with 6GB of VRAM.

Yeah, for gaming, the same performance. For the very few that actually need the double point precision with the added decimal string for numbers crunching, Titan would help them.
But, let's face it, the name Titan has been a marketing bonanza. Greek Gods win every time. Good point. Why a 780ti with 6gb vram. Has to be a marketing thing. Edited by bprat22 - 24 Mar 2014 at 11:51am |

Probably companies trying to maximize revenue on a product reaching the end of the line. With the potential of the new cards coming out around the end of the year, they are trying to entice people to keep buying and NVIDIA is probably finally opening things up to promote sales (and add options). For me, I wouldn't have ponied up that money for the Titan Black but I will probably pay more for the 780ti with 6gb of vram. Also, EVGA has that step up program so it may get people to pay some additional dollars upgrading. That's my take on it (which is worth little to nothing - lol).

You're probably right, Dax. The conspiracy theorist in me has to believe they have had the 6 GB cards for awhile but Titan was a money maker so kept them under wraps. Paranoia can be fun.

Ohhh - I think that you are dead on bprat. They did have them from day one but I guess it's more of a 'staged' release to ensure they keep their hands in all of our pockets!!!

Just bought a system with the 780 3GB, I would definitely be down for upgrading to a 6GB!
