Hey everyone,

Just getting ahead of the game here.

Just curious what liquid coolant DS recommends on the aventum liquid cooling system? Sorry bout my creeper face in the background lol.

Couple of questions:

1. where can you get it?

2. What are the instructions for topping up a reservoir like mine in the pic below?

Your fluid level is at it's correct point just so you know.

Over time, when the air bubbles get removed the level drops slightly. In addition, on many configs when the system is off, the level will slightly go up. You don't want to overfill it so that when you try to open the cap fluid spills out.

Unless it's near 1/2 of a level, you don't really need to add more fluid.

Just in case, here is a link to the fluid we use: http://www.amazon.com/XSPC-Performance-Liquid-Cooling-Coolant/dp/B00AMHE214

I take it this is your first liquid cooling?

You can always draining it, clean it out with distilled water, and use your own coolant if you have a more preferred coolant.  Or add some Mayhem dye to give it color.

For which one? Adding some color?  It's really simple, you open the top of your res and add a few drops. Mayhem is a very popular brand that a lot of people use. You can find tons of people using them on youtube.  They are very strong in color too. Just had a couple of drops until you have the color you like and that's it.

Mayhem has a very good reputation of not "gunking" up or anything.

I was just gonna start by asking something as simple as opening the reservoir. Is it a simple lefty loosey turn? haha

My fear of being clumsy and breaking something is high!

There should be a fill port available on the reservoir. Best practice is to use a syringe. Add it slowly and be careful not to over fill it.

Yep.   You can fill by the top cap unscrewing or the center remote fill port.     Use a syringe as danjw1 suggested or a small funnel.

Just for a fyi..... some reservoirs, and I think this one but not 100%, you could install a remote fill line to the reservoir.    A fill port on outside of the case would connect to the reservoir's center fill port.     Not really needed for the amount of time required, but an option non the less.

The top cap on that unscrews to gain access to add more fluid.

We personally do not recommend adding color dyes as they stain many components and can junk up over the span of 1-2 years.

Yes, that's how we do it. I suggest leaving your fluid level where it is, you're perfectly fine.

Just depends on the ones you use. Not all dyes gunk/junk up anymore. Mayhem has came a long way. The only reason I wouldn't use dye is if I had soft tubing. I hate soft tubing.  If you have cheap dye or cheap tubing, it'll stain it or your res (if you have a cheap res or dye).

Really wish digital storm would get on the acrylic tube bandwagon. It looks way better than soft tubing.

As long as your res stays in the 50%-75% window, you're completely fine, Don't want it any higher or any lower. Going above or below won't hurt your system, but it will give you complication.

Go high, it will effect how long it takes to bleed your system and will create a mess if you ever open it for whatever reason (due to air bubbles). Go below and you can start to be strain on your pump if it starts going dry.

Sorry to resurrect very old thread. I want to be prepared for when (and I know it will be much later--many months perhaps)(but it does get to near 90 degrees in my "cave" with regularity in summer)(make it comfy upstairs and everyone down will be frozen out..lol)...

...for when I need to add coolant.

Is the signature color "Mayhems Pastel Sunset Yellow" ?

Thanks---the new build is great and a posting for review thread is still coming.
