It seems pretty friggin awesome, but that is what worries me. Evertime I see a MMO that is going to be awesome, it ends up being crap.

I'm definitely interested now, after reading up on it. I think the combat system sounds a little like DDO, but I could be mistaken. Either way, it's the crafting system that has me intrigued.

I don't know how long they have been working on it, I forgot. I think however that this game MIGHT actually be more polished up then other MMO's that have came out in the past. MMO's such as EQ, EQ2, WOW, Horizons, etc etc they were thrown out and not even polished up.

Darkfall looks cool, but has some issues with its choices that I think will make it a tough sell for some people.
Like the no way to judge your opponents toughness without high levels of player experience with what the various gear looks like and in some cases actual combat... that seems like it will appeal to real hardcore realist types but could be a major drawback for more casual players that usually make up at least half of a games player base in a healthy and growing game... Only Time will tell, I like alot of what they have on their site, but alot of the info is still rather vague right now, do they have any ETAs? |

well, this year I guess they are doing the beta test no matter what so for the beta it will most likely come out by the end of summer or sometime in the fall. The beta will not be out next year. They are only having trouble finding a publisher that fits their needs which might just come around to them publishing it themselves.
What I found out while doing research on why mmorpg's go to the crapper a lot has a lot to do with the publisher. They published the game which makes them apart of it. Then they want this and that because people are whining and complaining, they also set deadlines regardless if it's finished and the publishers have the power to do that. 5 low level's can kill a maxed out level character with the best armor so I am pretty sure this game is a lot more skilled based then other's. For me to say it's more skill based then others is really an assumption on my part but that is what I hear and read about it. Hopefully it turns out good and doesn't turn out like guildwars LOL. |

Yeah,
That was my worry, that without some way to rate players game level/skill level, the high level of PVP from what they are promoting will be a quick death dirge for the game. We can but hope they pull off the realism and manage to not make the game too hard for non-hard-core gamers to figure out |

Bringing this thread back up since I got this game now the the NA server is out. I love it. It is definitely for the old school MMO fan. Games like Shadowbane and UO come to mind. If you have any worries about a game like this not being around too long look at UO, it is still going.
I recommend this game to everyone. |

The beta and the game are different. I didnt play the beta but it seems everyone who did thought it was crap too. Since the North American server launch and the first (free) expansion, most opinions of the game have changed.
