I've picked an 320 MB 8800 GTS for my new Twister instead of either
  1. A 640 MB GTS
  2. Two GTSs
  3. A 8800 GTX

Because... I use a 21" CRT; not exactly common these days.

I'm thinking I can get by, at least for now, because my display places rather low demands on the video card. First, I don't think the CRT can go above 1600x1200, and I'll probably play games at just 1280x1024. So, 320 meg ought to be enough video memory. Second, I've read that antialiasing is really only significant for fairly big digital displays with discreet pixels. CRTs kind of blend pixels together and smooth out the jaggies automatically. Is this just wishful thinking?

After reading the Legion Hardware comparison of the 320 and 640 Meg versions, I guess it comes down to how badly you need or want AA/AF.

Any thought on this would be appreciated.

That's true, a higher memory size will be good for games that have very high visual's. Even if you are running it at 1280x1024.

It all comes down to your expectations and budget. Going with a 640MB can be a good investment if your the type of person that always demands the best picture quality possible.
