I'm comparing my curreny CPU (Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz) with an Intel Core i7 3770k 3.5GHz. This is because I have a Sandy Bridge CPU and I'm looking at what to upgrade next in my rig and I keep hearing that Ivy Bridge is supposed to be the newest and greatest. Please keep in mind I don't know much about computers Big%20Smile.

2600K
CPU Clockrate Normal/Turbo - 3.4GHz/3.8GHz
Graphics Clockrate Normal/Turbo - 850GHz/1350GHz
L3 Cache - 8MB

 3770K
CPU Clockrate Normal/Turbo - 3.5GHz/3.9GHz
Graphics Clockrate Normal/Turbo - 650GHz/1150GHz
L3 Cache - 8MB

The 3770 does not look much better then the 2600 even though though it's the new chip. What am I missing? I got the info from Wikipedia, so maybe it's not reliable haha. Thanks for the education I'm about to get Big%20Smile

Ivy Bridge generally only sees a 5%-10% performance increase at the same clock, so I doubt that you would see any very large improvement, unless you were using integrated graphics, where the HD4000 of the 3770 would be a huge improvement over the HD3000 of the 2600. However, Ivy Bridge also uses less energy.
