Hello I'm trying to figure out what would be best for a gaming pc and this is pretty much what I've come up with so far, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Budget: $3000.00 - $4000.00 Expectations: Gaming mainly and I will be using a single monitor at 1920x1080p Special Needs: None really other than I would like to run most games on ultra settings like Skyrim and Battlefield 4 Configuration Code: 1148239 |

That is a real nice setup and will have no problems with a single 1080p monitor and the 980.
Good luck. |

For all I know you need 4 TB, but I have never used over a TB on a HD even with a lot of games and music.
If you are putting movies on your HD or video or have other unknown needs, maybe it makes sense. |

Hi Docsodacan,
That is a heck of a HDD for a gaming machine. If you really need that much HDD storage then you need to have some kind of back up storage. Either on the cloud or an external HDD. Or,I guess a second HDD in the computer for back up only. Frank Edited by FrankW - 13 Feb 2015 at 9:24am |

Well regardless of Size of the Hard Drive , everyone needs to have a back up Drive. that is separate/External.. just incase something really major happens to the Desktop unit, keeping it external will save all you Data some of it will not be replaceable My father had an internal back up HD and when he had Power surge,, it fried everything including the back up hard drive.. he should have also had a better surge protector.. but the one he had he thought was enough.. We get some major thunderstorms in Texas, it is why I invested in a 300$ back up battery and Surge protector that has an insurance policy if anything connected to it gets damaged, by a power surge, the Surge protectors manufacturer pays for the repairs or replacement.. Doc , I would invest in two more things an External Hard Drive to act as back up and a really good Battery back up/Surge protector |

Awesome thanks everyone I'll do some internet surfing and see what I can find for external hard drives and surge protectors. Oh and one last question about the case I was wondering do you folks think the Apollo case will be large enough for future graphic cards or should I give the case listing another look?

Unless they go crazy with card lengths in the future, the 760T has plenty of room. The gtx 980 for example is about 10.5" long, reference, and the 760t case can take a 13.3"(340mm) card with drive cage and 17"(450mm) card if HDD drive cage was moved.
Should be good to go. Edited by bprat22 - 14 Feb 2015 at 7:47am |

Hi Docsodacan,
Take a look at the WD My Cloud external hard drive/server. They are available from 2T up to 6T. Here is a link to Cnet for a review of 10 Cloud Type Servers. WD My Cloud Review. The WD is way ahead of the others in read/write speeds. You can even get them in a RAID configuration now. Frank Edited by FrankW - 14 Feb 2015 at 8:11am |
