looks good, only reason I went with the 950 is because it runs cooler then the 940 and its 3.0GHz unlike the 920 which is at 2.66GHz, and since we can't/don't want to OC the CPU in a laptop (due to production of too much heat), I figured a laptop at 3.0Ghz is worth it and only $41 over the budget, if you had said you are not OK with that, I would have come back with the same ticket specs you listed (306842).
BTW this is my first time speaking "DS config language" with anybody thank you |

a quad core is already overkill for a laptop especially an i7 secondly the money you save from getting a 920 gets u a vertex ssd.

lol the processing power is more important then the HDD speed, specially when the HDD can be upgraded anytime, say next year when the prices are much better and the same drive cost much less.
also for gaming, a quad core is never an overkill, specially for games like wow or crysis and etc. BTW I forgot to mention that the desktop can have up to 5 year of warranty, the laptop has only 1 year. But a 920 is still very good also, but I wouldn't get the SSD now with that budget. but thats just me Edited by DST4ME - 12 Jul 2009 at 9:21pm |

you haven't dealt with alot of laptops have you? they dont have corsair 1000wat psus running them its a small lithion ion battery, i didn't mean it was overkill speed wise im talking power as in battery usage wise, but of course i wasn't clear on that part sorry. ssd= less power usage = good also.

All depends on what he wants to do with the laptop, no matter what he does, encoding, work, apps, games, the 3.0 is gonna do it faster. if faster is not important to him then yes the 920, as I mentioned, is good too.
I have dealt with many laptops and use them for folding also. but as far as power consumption: Edited by DST4ME - 12 Jul 2009 at 10:25pm |

im guessing that power consumption is from a pc in a laptop with alot of use will get 2 hours at most on a good battery.

with a 280M GTX I doubt that will be the case, on a laptop, also a cpu does not use more power in a laptop or pc, the cpu power usage stays the same no matter where it is, so the difference as far as power consumption would be the same on a laptop, and you are sacrificing like 20% speed:
