This game is a resource hog!! 1.5 gigs vram, 5 gigs system ram. I think it likes a high OC on the cpu. Going to run some fraps later but so far smooth gameplay.

My goodness, this is the best looking game I've ever seen. My wife thought I was watching a movie when she got home! The campaign is good but the multiplayer with all the vehicles and huge maps is insane. I'll be playing this one for months. I'm glad I got an ODE 3 to play this on.

Its definately beautiful, and it recognized my settings and chose ultra all by its self at my resolution I didnt have to touch a thing except mouse sensitivity.
Single player looks amazing and realistic.
Multiplayer not for me. Guys lining up to get planes or vehicles.
Having to drive just to get in a fire fight.
Yuck IMO.
But the main issue to me was the whole Origin thing.
Like I need another steam and the hassles that go with it.
Launching from a webpage. (Didnt care for this either, Whats use of origin LOL).
Still games graphics are off the chart !!!!!
Fun factor just not there for me. Sorry DICE...
Let's Hope MW3 is not a disappointment

Guys is it possible for you guys to let me know your gpu/s and res and then let me know the max settings you can play smooth at that res please? include game settings and aa settings also, thank you, I like to get a good idea what can really do what, so that I know better what to recommend for the new people for bf3, this is real world results here, yours are the ones that really count.
but remember please only include the max settings that gaming was smooth in.
kinda like:
gpu/res/game settings/aa settings/average fps if available:
sli 570 1.5GB, 1920 x 1080, ultra, 4xaa, you can put average fps here if you have it, if not its not that big of a deal.
I thank you for your time, its much appreciate it

DST4ME. I have the ODE3 so you know what I have running it. My res is 1920x1080. Text Quality set Ultra. Everything else is set on high. The Altialiasing is set deferred. The game runs smooth as silk. The ODE3 for me was a great buy. Hope this is what you are looking for. pos

Ok tested at many different maps and for long periods of play. Res 1920 1080 Everything on ultra except shadow quality which was set to high, 2XAA 16AF Average frames were between 51-60. Very smooth game play.

DST4ME, you asked for it so here it is. ODE 0 vs. BF3 GTX560 /1920x1080 /ultra /4xaa / 16xaf /FPS (using FRAPS benchmark) average is 40fps...min 22fps Reality is 25-35 fps and a little jerky at times but still very playable. GTX560 /1920x1080 / high /0xaa /16xaf/ FPS...average 51.6 fps minimum 41 fps. Reality is 42-55 fps. The high setting which it defaults to for 560 is very smooth and graphics very good. This was with Campaign/single player, Multiplayer was actually a few fps better, but I did MP only for a few minutes. Retail was about the same as my posting of Beta version a while back. After all these weeks of speculation, the ODE 0 came out pretty good.

Download FRAPS http://www.fraps.com/download.php and install. Run it in the background while game is playing and FPS shows in corner of in-game. It is free like maxyme said.

Is it because you are used to the very fast paced, no down time action of MW? I can definitely see that, as BF is a tactical game. That lone wolf stuff doesn't work nearly as well in BF as it does in COD. A shame you're not liking the multiplayer. MW3 should be out soon enough though.

I was running game with SLI, but I'll bet one 570 could handle this game.

PS. Those of you with small SSD's. Alot of these new games are 20 Gigs . On small SSD multiple games will eat up space quick. I'm usually only playing 2 or 3 at a time. So what I do is after I'm done with game, I create a back up ( to file not a DVD) and store it on my other harddrive. Then delete local content in steam (freeing up space for newer games). Then next time I want to play one of those games. I just load it from my other Drive where it is stored instead of having to download it. Very fast and effective.

FR3SHM3AT Thanks for the suggestion of saving bf3 to a different had drive. I transfer bf3 to my external hdd. Now if i go go control panel and remove bf3 from my ssd will it remove it from my exterenal drive. This is all new to me and I don't want to mess anything up. pos

I was mainly talking steam games. I placed my Batman, Borderlands, Max Payne's, Portal, Metro 2033 ect.. on backup files on 2nd drive. Currently playing Black Ops, Rage, MW2 on SSD.
Not sure how ORIGIN works and I have already uninstalled it, and gave to a friend account and all lolol.
once you delete from local drive wont be able to play it. Unless you reinstall from back up. Just way faster especially if you back up after youve updated.
Anyways hope it helps

your trying to play it via a external HD??? your experience is going to be horrid if its being bottle necked by usb.
@freshmeat you still need sli to run the game at ultra while keeping the fps near 60

Do you have to use Origin to play single player from a DVD?

Rice, I just finished playing bf3 loaded from my external hhd. Ran just as good as loaded from ssd. fps were in the high 70.s. Is it possible that I loaded from hdd and the sdd which still has the program on it came into affect Like I said before I never really messed with the inside of computers. I am learning more each time I come back to the fourm. Thanks to all you guys for the feedback. pos

If you have it on the ssd, how do you know which copy you were running? how did you start the game?
when you copy something from say the ssd to the hdd, and then uninstall the one from the ssd, it does not touch the one on hdd, when you made a copy, you made it its own separate entity.

DST4ME I started the game by going to my external drive and opening my file for bf3 and use the bf3 application file and it started. I just finish playing for about one hour and it ran great on ultra settings. pos
