no prob, its wierd because your not able to acess the options menu where u change video settings when ur not spawned.

Ya, that's what stumped me.  Damn Betas.LOL
 
Thanks to you, Rice, I just tried BF3 again, this time messing with the graphics and here it is;  All on High, af x16, aa x4, motion blur?? On, AAPost??? Medium, whatever the last two are
Outside the frames were 32-38 sometimes 50s when action slowed
Inside Metro frames were 36-45, again 50s when less explosions, etc
Changing aa and af didn't seem to do much.  Didn't even try Ultra, but i will later.
Even the mid 30s played pretty smooth, no problem locking on, only stuttered a little when panning fast.  Definitely no slide-show problem.
It did slow a little after a while, which I believe is a driver problem, still using 275.33.
My beast of a rig ODE 0 Hahaha plays to my satisfaction.  Excited
You guys with sli570, 580 etc are gonna love this.

Hopefully the retail will be alot better optimized than the beta.  If not, than a little more tweaking is in order.
 
My trusty GTX275 is running the beta at 35-40 fps on medium settings. Ultra gets me 23-27fps. But it runs and looks great on medium. Can't believe you won't be able to run high settings with good framerates, probably even ultra.
 
Having said that my 570 is on the UPS truck as I type.Drooling

Those frames posted were on high.  35-45 on high and on medium they stay in the 50s mostly.  Even at 35-45 with high settings, like you observed, the game runs and looks good.  On medium it's even better, but not what a 580 or sli 570 will do.
It's pretty much what I expected.  Tweeking aa and af didn't do much to help or hurt the fps unlike other games I have, which seemed a little strange. 
 
The newest drivers supposedly increase fps up to 38%, if that's believable and on 2510 res.  I'll see what the new driver does on 1920 res.
 
Doc, I think your 570, if single, will probably add 20% to what I have.

lol if you are serious have a look here, but that is for adding a second gpu, you will be doing the same thing with the exception of changing gpus so the sli bridge stuff you can skip.

Muggz, like maxyme said, sli480s will play greatAwesome IMO.
If my gtx560 plays and looks very good on high, in my opinion, sli 480s should play ultra smooth and fast.  Everyone has a different definition of what looks smooth but to me, if I hadn't turned on Fraps utility to post the frames, I would've thought the frames alot higher.
Next....Can't wait to check-out SkyrimBig%20Smile If that plays as well then my ODE 0 was well worth it.

Not sure what to make of my fps. It really doesn't seem to matter my settings. I get roughly the same fps. Oddly I get higher fps on Ultra than on medium?Confused
 
Beta thing? Ultra 45-60.   Medium 40-45.  High 40-50.
 
BC2 shows 120 fps maxed out.
 
Card is quiet and much cooler than my 275.

Doc, I think it is a beta thing.  When I try ultra the frames stay in the high 30s and low 40s, like on high, and the same frames no matter what AA or AF setting I select.
Medium settings were a little better.
 
Ya, your gtx 570 should be about 20% better than 560, it seems. 
 
Like others have said for months to new config buyers, to get consistent 60-70+ frames a sli setup, even 560, is needed, at least by beta standards.  But low 40s plays great.Big%20Smile 
 
Just a thought.. I know nothing of server and MP coonections, and was wondering if these inconsistent or just wrong frames is a product of servers for the Beta?

yours is ode 0 rite? if so, without an SSD, how fast/slow does window starts? and how fast/slow does bf3 beta gets "loaded"?

what other games do you play that you can show me how fast things load? I'm deciding if getting SSD on a 1x570 vid card is even justified

BF3...from Origin to BF3 to spawning....1min 30 sec
Civ5...to saved game and play....1min 50 sec
BF2...to single player action...1min 20 sec
Dragon Age Origin...to a saved game...1 Min exact
Oblivion...again, to a saved game and in the action...20 sec
 
Yep, and ODE 0, no SDD.

I just bought the Ode Level 2 and everything I read indicates I should be able to play BF3 smoothly. I was wondering about my monitor I picked up a 24" 120hz should that help with the way it runs off the GPU?
