Topic: Apollo Titan Build (need guidance) Posted: 29 May 2015 at 12:31pm |
Hello all, new to the forums. I need some advice building my dream pc.
Budget is 3000-4000. I'm trying to min/max my build as much as possible without going over budget, or the girlfriend finding out. I could use some help figuring out what can I upgrade or downgrade, or some general feedback on this build. Never spent this much on a pc and want to be thorough. Oh, this pc is strictly for gaming. Hi Arkade_Kalamity..... Welcome to the forums.
As-is that is a real nice build. If you want to save a few bucks and not impact gaming performance, you can drop the i7 cpu for the i5-4690k. The i7-4790k's hyperthreading does help in a lot of apps, multitasking, etc. but not so much for gaming. The Hero is tops in mobo but unless there's something specific on that board you need, select the Sabertooth for its added warranty and just a quality board. You could also change the 850watt for the EVGA 750watt unless you plan on adding another card in sli. Change Seagate HDD for the Western Digital Black for a more reliable and longer warranty. Looks good and hope this helps. |

Second what bprat22 says. My Sabertooth is running strong after 4 years.
I love your build however. And the Apollo is awesome. |

Thanks for the replies!
Another quick question. If I decide to run 2 gpu (titan) in the future with this build, will 850w cover me? |

For sli Titan X the 850 watt would probably do it and some sites recommend it as minimum, but I personally would go for a 1000 Watt. Nothing wrong with a little headroom and better than crashes, roll overs, etc if the psu is stretched.
What monitor/s resolution are you using ? If its a 4K then sli Titan X would be nice. Edited by bprat22 - 30 May 2015 at 6:28am |

I plan to upgrade to 4k in the near future. Gotta save a bit more lol.
As of right now, I'm running 1980x1080. Current setup is -------- m17r4 connected to my Sony KDL-46W905A. Removed competitor name. Edited by Snaike - 30 May 2015 at 8:59am |

The Titan X is going to "smoke" your 1080p, smoke meaning in a good way.
For 4K, it being the equivalent of 4x 1080p monitors, the single Titan will still play games but at reduced settings. Sli would be the way. |

Agreed. That's why I figured I set up my build ready for 4k & SLI. Upgrade my power supply now, save up a bit, and buy a 4k set and another Titan later this year.
Till then, max everything in site on my 1080p. I'm about to pull the trigger, getting nervous now lmao. |

Lmao. Too bad I'm at work. I need to be sober though, if not, I'll end up with 4x Titan SLI.

Anyone know if the Apollo/build/case runs load? Should I invest in some stage of noise reduction?

Noise is so subjective its hard to tell someone yes or no. It will be louder than a box store pc with single rear fan, but not loud in my opinion comparing it to the older ODE 600T case that I have. They are similar.
The noise packages.... stage 2 ... there really isn't anywhere to mount sound deadening material so save the money stage 1.. they will tweak the fan speeds in Bios or a motherboard included software program like FanXpert. You could also do it yourself. Pretty easy to do. Edit.... The Apollo 760T case does have a 2 speed fan control that the case fans will plug into. So, not sure DS would do anything there. The other fan, the gpu, they don't adjust but you can with MSI Afterburner for one. The cpu cooler fans are best left alone but can also be adjusted. Edited by bprat22 - 30 May 2015 at 10:03am |

For sure!
Now I gotta find a nice 1440p monitor for it. And convert to 4k hopefully by the end of the year. |
