Hi mjm196... That's a real nice build. The only suggestion I have is to swap the Seagate HDD for the Western Digital Black for another $19. A better drive with better warranty.
Looks good and good luck. |

I would specify that the RAM be 2x4GB sticks so you can add another 2xGB sticks later.
Oops never mind - I see that the option already specifies 2x4GB sticks Edited by Gnicky - 06 Mar 2015 at 7:22am |

Would this setup be better for future component upgrades compared to the Vanquish II ultimate?

Vanquish II Ultimate would actually be better for upgradeability, due to the use of a full size ATX motherboard that can handle SLI. You can change the motherboard on the Apollo configuration to match, if you wanted.

Your build and the Vanquish level 4 have almost identical performance and upgrade potential. The Vanquish lvl 4 does have a motherboard able to sli, 2x video card, and your mobo doesn't. Your build has the larger psu. For the money, the Vanquish level 4 is a better deal.

On the gigabyte Z97X-SLI it says 1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60Hz on the specs.
Should I be looking at a different monitor regarding the Asus 24 inch VG248QE Series (144Hz Refresh Rate) in terms of compatability? |

You'll be connecting the monitor cable to the gtx 970's video ports and not the motherboard's port, so no problem at all. You'd be good to go.
