Looks like a solid build.

I think it would meet your expectations nicely.

Do you think that fan is suitable? That's my only concern

Hi jpetrusk.... If you mean the Noctua d14 cpu cooling, then that's an excellent cooler.   It's quiet, cools great and most of all, very dependable. No pump, tubing or firmware.   The liquid coolers like the Vortex 120 and h100i are also very good, but I like the air coolers myself.

Your build looks great. I'd change the Seagate HDD to the Western Digital Black for another $19.   A better drive with longer warranty.

Good luck.

I think it's an excellent build.   The gtx 980 would give you about 15% or so better frames, but it's also a lot more for the added performance. . The gtx 970 is best bang for the dollar

Also, the i7-4790k is tops and if in the budget, keep it . But for gaming, the i5-4690k will save a few bucks and is all you need for most gaming.   Multi tasking and editing would use the 4790k hyperthreading, so up to you.

Oh one more question. Is there a cheaper case that would work as well for future upgrades or no

Oh, sure, there are other picks.  The Slade 550d is known for being the quietest because of the acoustic panels on the side and top, but there are other choices.

The Corsair 230T which is what the Vanquish line is built on, will work.  But this version as an option has no side window, but the Slade doesn't either unless you pull off the side acoustic panel.

The Coridium, Corsair 450d, will work just fine.

The Corsair Air 540 will work great, and the one I'm leaning towards in a future build.

Any of these choices give you room to upgrade and easy to work on.

I believe the Noctua d14 will fit in all of them, but ask DS to make sure.

The Noctua D14 will fit the Air 540 and the Slade 550D as i have seen some builds with the cooler on pcpartpicker.
