The last time I made a significant technological jump, it was from a mid-grade general-use laptop to a high-end gaming laptop with a GTX 460M and an i7-2630QM in 2011. The difference blew me away.

Best $1400 I have ever spent, until, I hope, now.

Over the past few months, my precious laptop graphics card was falling below more and more system requirements for 2015's games, so it came time for an upgrade.

Just purchased a Level 4 Vanquish 3. I cannot wait to see how the difference between the 460M and 970 blows me away again. My 2nd generation i7 still kicks ass, but a i5-4690K should beat it, right?

Well, Digital Storm, after going back and forth between the possibilities of pre-built, eBay, and building it myself, you have my attention, and my money. Impress me.

Thanks. I chose the Vanquish because I'm looking forward to getting some experience with upgrading. Has room for more RAM, another video card, and eventually swapping out that 750 power supply will be an adventure as well.

All in good time, of course. For now, it'll max out every single game I have. No longer will I have to look at Minimum Requirements on Steam!

My previous gaming laptop was a 460M as well. DS's laptops are no slouches either, although I'm curious why you're going desktop this time around.  Evil

Back when I got my Asus ROG G73 (Am I allowed to say that here? I've seen competitor names censored before.) I was a truck driver and I needed mobility.

That career is now behind me, and I don't need to shell out the extra for mobility.

Gah, the waiting! I got the Stage 7 alert Friday morning, and was really hoping to get the shipment alert, but alas, that hasn't happened yet. Sounds like they didn't get it out the door before closing on Friday. Really sucks, because my days off this week are Tuesday and Wednesday, and it probably won't be here by then.

Seriously, um, I'm not sure how long it's going to take me to write out my impressions in a clear, concise manner. Until then, one word will have to suffice.

If this is what your budget rig can do, I don't think I could look at any enthusiast machine without risking brain damage.
