I heard the world will be much bigger. I can't wait!! The Witcher 2 had some really awesome looking armor. Hopefully this one will have better.

I'm with you. PC RPG's is my top favorite genre. I never really got into FPS except for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. That game is the bee's knees.

Steam can get dangerous. I was bored and bought Bioshock Infinite the other day, $60 just gone right off the credit card! To Steam's credit, it dŒs have amazing things going for it and as an older gentleman I do not have to go into a PFY store and feel out of place LOL

Although new Triple A titles are the same price as stores, you can probably keep yourself entertained for years just by buying whatever is on sale. They have Grand Theft Auto 4 on sale this weekend for $5. That's cheaper than going to the movies and you'll spend more than a couple hours playing it.

Since you haven't played a lot games in the past few years, and have an amazing looking computer I would recommend the following games:

Knights of the Old Republic (1) and (2) are on Steam for $10 each. Story is fantastic and gameplay is very fun.

I know you posted in the RPG forum, but I really enjoyed Assassin's Creed series for it's story and action.

Of course you will need to pick up The Elder Scrolls! I suggest playing through Oblivion first and then Skyrim. You can really crank up the details in Skyrim through mods to make it look gorgeous.

There is no order here, but wanted to share.

Elder Scrolls Skyrim.
Knights of the Old Republic
Final Fantasy III (SNES) which I guess had a different number in other places
Final Fantasy VII
Borderlands
Diablo 1, 2, and 3.
Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3.

Skyrim has to be my favorite by a long shot though. I would very gladly spend $60 every month on a new Elder Scrolls game. Kings Bounty is great fun. I have, I think, three of them now.

The first is The Legend, Armored Princess is the second, and Crossworlds is the third.

I think that's all there is, but I vaguely recall noises about another one.

GOG is great if you hate your petty cash. :)

Thought I would try Kings Bounty.  Hey I like it!  Last night into early this morning I played.  A gamer friend told me to get games from gog.com (good old games).  Never heard of it.  So of course went there and bought Kings bounty, first 3 Gothics, and good old Fallout for W764.  They also gave me 10 free games!  Never heard of Beneath a Steel Sky but maybe I will try it.Big%20Smile

you know i just couldnt get into The Witcher. I have the directors cut of the first game, but i hated the controls soo much i never played more than 8 hrs of the game. And expected TW2 to have the same controls, so i never gave it a look see. The news of Witcher 3 just keeps getting better and better!

Witcher 2 was my all time fav. RPG. But Witcher 3 is getting so much more!

"The Witcher 3 will have over 100 hundred combat animations compared to the 20-something found in The Witcher 2."

I play my video games on my PS3, but I wanted to put my 2 cents in if that's ok.
My favorite RPG of ALL-time is Final Fantasy VIII. I absolutely LOVE that game. It was first exposure to the franchise and will always be a favorite.

You can try Darksiders II and the Witcher 2. I enjoyed both of those games very much. If you want to follow the story try the prequels to both of those titles, but the gameplay isn't as fun as the sequels. There is also Torchlight II that I recently got my hands on.

I don't play RPG's but my son dŒs... For spellcasters, they get domains, schools, and bloodlines(and other stuff), depending on type. Each of these choices grants additional spells, abilities, and other factors. They are ALL significant, and very much shape the caster. Many caster classes gain additional abilities or changes to existing ones(Wizards and bonding). For non-casters, depending on class and archetype, they gain skills and unique abilities, bonus feats, and direct modifiers to things such as saves and combat maneuvers.

Pathfinder.

It's like 3.5 with most of the troublesome rules worked out, and characters cranked up to 11. I've had much more fun playing it than anything Wizards has done in a long time. The best part is that you can play with a single book(the Core Rulebook). You don't *need* any other books to get started.

There are numerous places where you can purchase the books, dice and modules. Book stores, Amazon.com and gaming stores for example. Since you never played before, the best advice I could suggest is find a local gaming store. Besides having all sorts of games and customized dice, they generally have a gaming room where people gather to play. It would be best to see if you actually like it before spending a lot of money.
