A computer technician for another company once was convinced my laptop was having mobo issues because of pet hair and dust build up (the caveat being that I have no pets, lol). He was so positive of his assumption that he told me they wouldn't cover it before he even opened the case (because it was hair and dust and thus my fault). Needless to say, he opened it and there was not a speck of dust in there, his embarrassment was quite pleasing, haha. Some companies just are pains to deal with, luckily, thus far my experience with DS has been as smooth as silk.

It leads me to believe the 7970's are behind by about...i'd say 15-25 fps, then again is the third card that makes the least diffrence. I would not get 7970's as they are overpriced, i would wait for the 680's and see if the ODE build gets updated to that.

Also use that money for a SSD, the SSD will give you faster boot times, faster read and write, overall your pc will be faster when your looking up files (on the ssd) and when your opening applications on that SSD

No game will ever use more than 8.

Change the powersupply to the Corsair HX1050. its more reliable, and you wont see the need for 1200w's unless your looking for a tri sli setup.

Instead of two 1tb hardrives, get one solid state around 160 gigs, and get a 1tb storage drive. or 2 tb.

Switch the cards to 570's, 580's are overpriced and your paying 100 more for less than 15 fps diffrence and the 7970's are extremely overpriced for their performence, if you want next gen cards wait for the 680's.

Change the cooler to a a70 or nh-d14, those are the best air coolers, the corsair liquid cooler is not real liquid cooling and will get you no where near the temps a real liquid cooled rig will get you, if you are determined on liquid cooling go up to stage 4 or 5.

Change your Overclock to stage 2, for the best bang for your buck.

I would reccomend changing OS to windows 7 proffesional as that has a higher ram capacity.

Oh, And dont forget the Free T-shirt! :p

Edited by Zieno - Yesterday at 11:36pm

    Author: Zieno
Subject: First Time Gaming PC Build
Posted: 03 Feb 2012 at 11:19pm

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if your gaming on two 27's that have a 1920x 1200 on both or even 1920x 1080 you'll have... 2500x 1200? I believe, anyway if your gaming on both then yours going to run into problems with just one 580, even two may not due it.

You will have to turn settings down, Also just a warning, because i have done it and i just want to let you know, when you game on two monitors and you play a fps. Not always but there is a chance that the game will be split meaning that the reticle will be split in the sides of the screen, and its very hard to shoot and be accurate, takes away from the enjoyment.

Its also a bit wierd on racing games but not as much, Again just a warning, if you want to game on both I would move you to x79 and keep the 580 and then later down the road maybe a year or when you can, pop another two in there. Or you can wait for the 680's to come out, and if they are as powerful as rumors say, you may only need two to power both monitors.

Edit- Another option that is plausible, is stick with p67 but wait for the 680's. that way you save a good 300 bucks from buying a 3930 and a x79 mobo

Edited by Zieno - Yesterday at 11:24pm
