Just seconds ago received the stage 7 email !

Shipping estimated within one day from today. I am imagining that means it ships Monday...?   Going crate--however that is shipped--still UPS or FEDEX I believe.

Next weekend is probably lining up to be a busy weekend !

Crate shipping / Freight leaves DS on Friday. So, it's on the way as of end of day, today.

I thought crate if under a certain weight also went FEDEX or UPS versus freight... At any rate waiting on a tracking number which I guess I will have soon.

UPS I believe does ship freight.   With the pallet, it's safer regardless, as its handled differently.  No hand-size box to be tossed around.  

Did you get a shipping confirmation from DS?  If not, it might not have shipped on Friday.   But, DS is the source for a definitive answer.

My experience is that tracking numbers go end of day. You may want to call DS today to verify it's left their facility. From there on, you're at the mercy of the shipper.

Just received a call saying "we no longer offer wooden crate option" select ground or freight...and freight might not leave until later in the week. Ground MIGHT go today. What in the world....

It was unnerving enough I forgot to ask exactly how much of my shipping is being refunded for ground...and I hope the thing arrives in tact.

Hi armyslowrdr,

Sorry about that, we're waiting for them to arrive for your type of system. We have wooden crates for other cases, but not the Apollo. The team felt it was going to come in time but it's taking longer than we like.

On a good note, your system has a single video card and isn't that complex where it would get damaged in shipping. We do pack the units carefully to protect them during shipping, you should be good.

Cheers. We actually are out of "Wooden Crate" options, and "Freight Shipping" is far better. Here's the difference FYI:

Wooden Crate = Instead of using a cardboard box, we ship the system in a wooden crate. It would still ship via UPS/FedEx but they tend to handle it more carefully since it's larger and wooden, it will not work on their belt drives or sorting systems.

Freight Shipping = We strap the system in a cardboard box which is placed on a wooden pallet. A forklift or a pallet jack is used to transport the computer which means it's handled very carefully.

Neither of which gets handled by gorilla handed forwarders. Things in crates and on pallets get forklifted into and out of shipping modules.

Not saying it won't still get a rough ride, but the "Hey, I'm gonna toss this box into that bin" mistreatment is removed.

Now the waiting begins for the tracking number to be in the system and the system to start moving.

Oh I am sure palletized is safer.  But fork lifts damage too.  The very 1st RCA widescreen TV back in the 90s---big behemoth tube monster--had forklift tines all the way through the box and through the back case.  Replacement woekrd until--this is funny--2 snakes did the tango at the power station up the street and we had a huge surge.  Finally the 3d try with that TV took hold.

Then a new egg monitor came with fork lift tine punctures in the box---but luckily the item was undamaged.

So one can see I'm a tad leery.

But cant wait to check this system out and spend the hours configuring programs and settings and pressing her into duty !  Strong

As of 517 AM package has left the freight facility and is enroute ! ETA end day Friday. Knowing I am in Killeen (although busy huge Ft Hood is here, Waco UPS freight hub says on its page we are rural...lol), I see it slipping til Monday...but excitement builds.
