Hi Tunapiano,

What is your configuration number?

This is way over kill for a gaming machine with a single 980 GPU.   You don't need the 5960X CPU, 32Gb memory, Hydrolux cooling, the 1200w PS or even the Aventum II case. You do need a bigger SSD and the Pro model is a better choice.

Now that doesn't mean that you can't have all of that if you want it. But, it won't game any better than a system with a lot lower level of equipment. You seem to have a lot of storage capacity and I wonder if you are doing other work than gaming?

If you like your build then go for it. You will be able to run amuck with your games on a 1920 x 1080 monitor.

i run on a 2560x1440p 27 inch monitor and i tend to do a lot of multitasking though streaming, gaming and ripping my movies are primarily what i do.

As for the SSD i won't be putting anything on it but the OS so i don't see why i'd need better than 120gb.

As for the GPU, in my system i'm replacing i had it built with SLI 580's back in the day and it seemed like overkill then, these days very few games seem to push a 980 let alone 2 980's which are overkill. The memory needs to be a minimum 16gb because i do multitask and constantly using over 10gb of ram at any given time and that will definitely be going up over time as it always has with games needing more vram and ram.

The CPU is to make sure i have a high end CPU years from now, i like to build a PC that lasts a minimum of 5 years with only the GPU ever needing upgraded. WHy not use the Hydrolux cooling? and if not the 1200w PSU then what would you suggest?

Two 980s are not overkill for 4k gaming, IMO. So consider what your future display rez will be

For a gaming PC, I would say the 5820K is quite reasonable, looking into the future. More games make utilize more cores into the future. If you feel that's not true, get the fastest 4 core, 4790, but realize that won't be an X99 chipset. If you like X99, get the 2820

The Rampage doesn't make a lot of sense when I looked at it. I could not see a reason to choose it over something like the Asus X99 Deluxe, unless you are sufficiently in love with the ROG look and don't mind the upcharge.

Nothing wrong with that power supply, but overkill unless you are going SLI ( and even then, a bit of overkill, but it IS a bit sexier as PSUs go :)

This is just one man's opinion :)

128 GB is not a lot for the system drive.

I have a lot of games, and I use quite a lot of my 256 GB system drive and a 1 TB data drive

It is when you're not installing any games on the system drive, that's what the 500gb 10,000 rpm drive is for. I don't trust SSD's for gaming, i have had 2 fail on me that i would keep 1 or 2 games installed on because i do game everyday.

This is a lot better balanced than your first system. I think you are going to like it a lot.

I agree.. kind of what I would have considered IF I went for a water cooled system.. I opted for Air Cooled and chose a different Case because of that choice.. To be honest the more parts you have in any computer even a well built one the more that can and often will go wrong.

I play two of the biggest resource hogs in terms of Disk space WoW, with tons of Addon's and Sims 3 all expacs and tons of custom stuff , in addition to just adding Sims 4 these games use up a lot of space..

The one thing that I do not do that is a space hog is store videos, and photos. As for Photos I am still a very much Old School photographer I can not even afford the digital camera that I would need to replace and do what my film camera does for the price of that digital cameral I could have bought three of the Velox Systems I just got and still would only have the camera body and one lense...   SO no need to consider a hard drive for my photography need unless that camera comes down in price a lot...

Enjoy your system I think you will like it

Well my current system is liquid cooled and i never had a problem with it 5 years later. It definitely cuts down on the noise.

And i have over 300 movies that i've been ripping onto the storage disks and a huge music collection.
