Budget:
[Around 4.5k]

Expectations:
[3x 24" Monitor (http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Performance-24-Inch-LED-Lit-XL2430T/dp/B00M8E0K06/ref=dp_ob_title_ce)]

Usage:
[High FPS Gaming, Streaming, basic photo editing]

Special Needs:
[None]

Saved Ticket #: [1163571, 1163572]

Specifications:
[So I have about a 3yr old digital storm rig, and I'm looking to upgrade as my wife is in need of a pc so she'll be getting the hand-me-down. My needs really arent changing from what they were 3 years ago, other than the addition of a third monitor. I have saved the above two builds around the price point I want. Would these builds accommodate 3x monitor? Is SLI possible across 3x mon., or do I need an additional card?   ]

I suggest dual 980 Strix for your gaming processing needs. I am very happy with mine, and they overclock very well for me

5920 is all you need for a processor, and that will save you $200. 5930 doesn't seem of much benefit even with 2 way SLI

I'd do the Velox build with a Noctua air cooler instead of the AIO water cooler. The Aventum doesn't make as much sense if you aren't going to water cool everything.

Is there any difference between the Noctua 14 vs. 15? I have the 14 in my current rig, and it runs just fine.

I'm assuming you mean the 5820 processor here. Any ideas around the 3x mon. with sli?

5820, yep

For 3-way monitors, not sure, but 980 SLI might work, and should be in the budget. Maybe there's some benchmarks out there for such a setup

It is going to depend on the game...especially if you want to drive the monitors at 144Hz. If the rumors are true (and we may very well find out in NVIDIA's upcoming GTC in a couple days), you may want to spend a little and get a couple 980Ti's.

Here is a comparison between the NH-D14 and NH-D15: http://www.overclock.net/t/1493091/ohhgouramis-noctua-nh-d14-vs-nh-d15-comparison

Hi Vizo,
Someone with more knowledge will advise as to the 980ti's but I'd would check if you really want the 850 EVO instead of the 850 PRO for your primary SSD. I understand that the EVOs had a slow down issue with long term use and Samsung has issued fixes therefor. I don't know if this is still an issue. The PRO has no problems.

The problem with the EVO SSD is the 840 model. You should be OK with the 850 EVO. However, the 850 Pro is the smarter buy if you got the money.

So I just configured this, based on some new information over the past couple months. AC went in the house, which pretty much depleted my gaming rig fund. Ah, ok... well, I'm a big fan of the 5930k. Depends on your needs though. 6700 is pretty new... really hard decision

Not a hard decision to go with the 6700 as the Skylake class supports DX12.

The SLI'd 980's are overkill imo, and might be better served by a single overclocked 980ti. Many games either don't support SLI, or act strangely.

With a single 980ti, you'd save a ton of $$$ (almost $400), and could get a 500GB SSD, as thatsmall SSD will probably fill up pretty fast.

With a single 980ti you could also get a smaller & much higher quality PSU, like this:

you had better make sure that mobo supports sli at x8/x8 with a populated x4 slot (that Intel drive you selected).  mobos that have a x8/x4/x4 config in sli will only support sli if the x4 slot is unpopulated.

Skylake only has 16 pcie 3.0 lanes, which can be split into an x16, x8/x8 or x8/x4/x4 config.  the chipset supports up to 20 lanes (but it's left to the mobo manufacturer how they want to allocate).

in all honesty, in your shoes, i'd opt for an X99 system.  barring that, i'd abandon the pcie storage in favor of a traditional ssd.

even if your mobo supports sli in that config, do you really want to run your gpus in anything less than an x8/x8 config?  i wouldn't.
