Interesting thing happened this morning.
My Vanquish is the II version, i5-4570 3.20Ghz, and it is apparently unable to meet Witcher 3's minimum specs. The game requires at least 3.30Ghz... Now, we all know I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to the insides of computers. But this information has me a bit concerned and confused. I think I need an adult to explain the options should I wish to play this particular game. |

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure the .1Ghz would prevent you from playing, assuming you are willing to play on the suggested settings for the minimum specs. The listed spec is for the i5-2500K at 3.3Ghz, and while the 2500k and 4570 are fairly similar, there might be just enough of an efficiency improvement over the 2500k (at base clock) to make up the difference, but I haven't look at any spec sheets.
I haven't played any of the Witcher series, but looking at 3 is making want to dig in. |

Hey Snaike..... Your 4590 has a base clock of 3.3 but a Turbo clock of 3.7 whenever you put anything on it. No worries as Tidgxor said, especially with the Turbo.
If however your rig blows up when you try it, I didn't say anything. Have at it. |

Today is a good day; I learned something new.
Max core speed for this i5-4590 is 3599.28 (99.98Mhz * 36), or 3.60Ghz. Witcher 3 is back on the list. (Knew y'all could set me at ease... thanks again!) |

No doubt. You need to play them. Some of the best games I have ever played story-wise. Really good. |

The I5 4590 should do fine in Witcher III. While it compares closely to the I5 2500, you can use DDR3 1600 ram while the 2500 is limited to DDR3 1333. Also you can use a more powerful graphics card. In all you should be sitting about 15% better than minimum specs if you have the DDR 1600 RAM and a good graphics card. (660TI or better) I think you will enjoy Witcher III. Note that it contains adult material so you won't want to play with little ones running around. Edited by Pacesetter - 13 Apr 2015 at 2:59pm |

8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28) = 1600 RAM and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770... I'll be fine.
Also, the only little ones I have to worry about is a 9 month old grandson, and I really don't think he cares whats on my computer. |

Maybe Intel changed something in the K model that allows overclocking the ram. The Intel specs on the 2500 state 1333. Then again it may be running the 1600 ram at 1333. Hard to say. |

Its actually wrong info by Intel going back to 2011 that was never corrected, if I remember correctly. I have a 2500k that does run at 1600 without a burp for 4 years. Same for 2500.
Just some info for those with a 2500k that might want to swap ram. The more I think about it the more I think it was the mobo/bios that allowed the cpu to go higher than Intel specs. Figuring out Ram can make your head hurt. Edited by bprat22 - 14 Apr 2015 at 3:04am |

To be honest, I never really paid much attention to what Intel says about their own processors.
I've been using "incompatible" RAM with Mr. Bojangles for nearly 5 years now. |

Even back in early 2010 DS was providing 1600 ram for the X58 CPUs.

Good point, and in these situations you have DS' warranty to fall back on as well. |
